> "It was the power of religious influence, not alone, but more than anything else, which created the differences of which we are conscious to-day” Max Weber saw reformation as a new form of religion control, not elimination of Church’s ones. His aim focused on finding intimate relationship between asceticism and capitalism. He emphasized that commercial and social interests determine opinions and altitudes of people. In today's world, person should make adapted his manner of life to conditions of capitalistic success. “The capitalistic economy of the present day is an immense cosmos into which the individual is born, and which presents itself to him, at least as an individual, as an unalterable order of things in which he must live” As he said: “Spirit of capitalism might be understandable, as has been said, purely as a result of adaptation” For to discover ideal type of person who owns spirit of capitalism use Franklin. For providing this, Human must be able to cover some characteristics. A BETTER WORLD?! A UTOPIA?! IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! Allow me to start by thanking the amazing Karl Popper. He is one of my favorite writers. He has such an irresistible style of writing which combines excellent literary devices with (humane) scientific statements. So, he makes science very pleasant and enjoyable. My first contact with Popper's ideas was through other authors. And by recommendation of one of them, I decide to read this book. This great selection of Popper's lectures is, perhaps, a selection exactly appropriate for those interested in starting to explore his philosophy, ideas, and concepts. Concise, simple, and easy to read, the book is a passionate defense of freedom, democracy, and the free market. Always emphasizing the modesty necessary to the intellectuals, from its origins Xenofanes and Socrates, he defends western values, without ever forgetting Churchill's statement about democracy being the least worse form of government. These two aforementioned features become a north in the book, preventing him from falling into common fanaticisms and generalizations. In this book, Popper talked about many things (mainly scientific issues for sure). There was a common theme in all of those issues he discussed: Optimism. Popper emphasized so many times the 'goodness' of our human species. He refused the arguments that present humans as innately evil - he believes humans are innately and essentially good. That's why he is very optimistic about having a 'better world' sometime in the future. Popper's belief, in the human ability to overcome all of the evil things which overwhelm our world today, is actually infectious! It forces the reader to believe as well. This thing alone, to me, makes the book AMAZING!

“Optimism is a moral duty.” One of the century's greatest and most influential thinkers, Karl Popper reminds us that we must recognize our responsibilities in preserving the democratic system we enjoy: it is our actions that will create the world of tomorrow. In these interviews with journalist Giancarlo Bosetti, Karl Popper ranges widely over contemporary political and social issues. He reflects on many topics, from the decline of the Soviet Union and the danger of a Third World War to our obligations to children and the potentially harmful influence of television. He warns us that the increasing violence and egotism of our society, if unchecked, will imperil our civilization. The volume also contains two talks on the theory of democracy, arguing that democracy has never been the rule of the people (nor can or should it be), but only the best method we know for preventing tyranny.

Sahilde Kafka, Haruki Murakami İngilizce olarak başladığım bir değerlendirme. 20180708 16:59 II 1. Kafka Tamura 2. Your servant Nakata 3. Entrance stone 4. Colonel Winston **** Kafka Tamura A fifteen-year-old boy. His mother left home when he was 3 years old and he was living together with his father. But the father was so busy with his own life and he was not aware of his son. One day he decided to escape from home. He prepared his bag, took some money from his father's valet. He did not have any idea where to go. He did not have any plan. He just wanted to leave home and live alone in an unknown place, far away from all his relatives and friends. He did not only left home but he also left the school. He was studying at a middle school and he was to finish it because it was compulsory for anyone to finish at least middle school. This story is an interesting affair for any teenager. Leaving home and school. Packing his suitcase putting some underwear and t-shirts. One hand in the pocket and the suitcase on the shoulder, sun glasses on the eyes... Money enough to live for a few days... Later... No problem... Solutions are to be explored... Experience is to be tested. I want to travel now in the cells of his brain. What kind of expectations or which reason is to be handled as the key word of this travel desire... leaving all his life behind, for a new but an unknown life considering that on that time he was only fifteen years old. No mother. No brother and sister. Father, yes, but just a name, he was outside of this sight, busy with his job, not aware of his son, even he was at home or not he never thinks... He generates his own wish to travel with his bag as a companion. Why? How does a human, a teenager feed his wishes for such a travel? This is the question

I had an addiction to reviewing the news all the time. Every second i was wondering what's happening in Turkey and the World in general. After reading this book i became more aware of the distraction of the news and its manipulation. It's actually preventing us to think clearly since it's biased and misinforms us. It also takes a lot of our valuable time. The author basically give the reasons why we should give up reading news. I found these reasons rational. Furthermore, he suggest what to do instead of reading the news.
