Les Rivières pourpres by Jean-Christophe Grangé The novel begins with a disturbing murder in a quiet university town in the French Alps. At the same time, in another nearby place, a different investigation is unfolding, one that at first seems unrelated. As the story progresses, the two cases slowly begin to connect in unexpected ways. Without revealing too much, the investigation takes the reader into a world of hidden secrets, elite institutions, and unsettling discoveries. It’s not just about finding a killer. It’s about uncovering something much darker beneath the surface. What makes Les Rivières pourpres stand out is its atmosphere. The setting, cold mountains, isolated spaces, and closed communities, creates a feeling of tension from the very first pages. The environment almost feels like a character itself: harsh, silent, and unforgiving. Grangé’s writing style is direct and fast-paced. The chapters are short, the scenes are vivid, and there’s very little unnecessary description. This makes the story feel urgent and cinematic. You don’t just read it, you move through it quickly, almost breathlessly. There’s also a psychological layer. The investigators aren’t superheroes; they’re intelligent but human, with instincts, doubts, and limits. That realism makes the tension feel more believable. Les Rivières pourpres became very successful because it goes beyond a simple “who did it?” mystery. The plot is carefully constructed, with twists that feel earned rather than random. The suspense builds steadily, and the stakes feel high.

Horseracing is the sport of kings, perhaps because racehorses are very expensive animals. But when they win races, they can make a lot of money too - money for the owners, for the trainers, and for the people who put bets on them to win. Silver Blaze is a young horse, but already the winner of many races. One night he disappears from his stables, and someone kills his trainer. The police want the killer, and the owner wants his horse, but they can't find them. So what do they do? They write to 221B Baker Street, London, of course - to ask for the help of the great detective, Sherlock Holmes.

It is a nice and fun mystery book! It’s about four friends who live in a retirement village. Every Thursday, they meet up to talk about old, unsolved crimes. Later, a real murder happens where they live, and then their hobby becomes a proper investigation! I loved the characters I must say. They are all in their seventies and eighties, and they are clever and often very funny. You really feel like you’re part of their little gang and their dialogue as they try to trick the police and find the real killer. The plot has lots of twists that make you guesses until the end.

Murder on the Orient Express is a work of detective fiction by English writer Agatha Christie featuring the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. Its Turkish name is Doğu Ekspresinde Cinayet. The writer began to write this novel in Istanbul Pera Palace Hotel. In that hotel, her room is not rented as she used that room to write this detective fiction. The opening chapters of the novel take place primarily in Istanbul. The Orient Express is stopped by heavy snowfall. Hercule Poirot gets telegram and he is also on the way back to London. Ratchett has been receiving death threats; recognizing Poirot, he tries to hire him for protection. Poirot, repulsed by Ratchett, refuses. Poirot is a friend of Mr. Bouc who is the owner of the train. The next morning, with the train still stalled, Bouc informs Poirot that Ratchett has been murdered and the murderer is still aboard, having no way to escape in the snow. As there are no police onboard, Poirot takes up the case. There are some clues and he investigates it among 12 people. The body has twelve stab wounds, the window had been left open, a handkerchief with the initial "H", a pipe cleaner, a flat match different from the ones Ratchett used, and a charred piece of paper with "member little Daisy Armstrong" written on it. While he is searching for the murderer we learn new things and Poirot prepares some traps for them. We learn that the victim's real name is Cassetti who killed some family members and we try to interrogate the meaning of justice. I won't tell about the killer. We guess and wonder about the murderer but the writer throws us a curve. The author has many artifacts about detective fictions. We have Ahmet Ümit who is also good at detective novel. There are some movies about this novel and I am going to watch the latest
