1963’te Çin’in Şansi kentinde doğan yazar, Çin edebiyatının en büyük bilimkurgu yazarı olarak gösterilmektedir. Bir üçlemenin ilk kitabı olan "Üç Cisim Problemi" (The Three-Body Problem)'yle 2015’te Hugo ödülünü almış ve bunu başaran ilk Çinli yazar olmuştur. Çin’in Hugo’su olarak bilinen Galaxy Ödülü’nü de dokuz kez kazanmıştır. Ölümün Sonu (Death's End) adlı üçlemenin son kitabıyla da 2017 Hugo ödülü finalisti olmuş ayrıca 2017 Locus Ödülü'nü kazanmıştır.
Üçlemenin diğer kitapları Kara Orman (The Dark Forest ) ve Ölümün Sonu (Death's End) İthaki Yayınları etiketiyle yayımlanacaktır.
Üç Cisim Problemi 2016 yılında tiyatroya uyarlanmıştır. Film uyarlamasının halihazırda çekim aşamasındadır.
