the fact that i didn't hate this makes me think. and i wrote a small essay on the queer story for personal reasons. here it is (spoilers ahead): There's a story in here about a gay man who commits a murder with his lover and the upbringing of this entire plotline is so interesting that I will try to break it down. Ahmet Ümit is not at all interested in describing his characters with many details. But when Başkomser Nevzat is introduced to this young man, Yusuf, he mentions his black mustache and burning hazel eyes; before describing him as "a man so beautiful that even the most innocent of women would be tempted by the sight of him." It feels already weird enough that his main character -a masculine, macho type cop guy who solves murder mysteries- describes an another man's beauty in such delicate details. Even Ali, Başkomser Nevzat's assistant who is also a macho guy that puts in extra effort to look tough (because he's young and still learning), also calls Yusuf "quite handsome" at some point. Now you might find yourself thinking, "Hm... There might be something queer going on in here." Because that's exactly what Ahmet Ümit wants you to think. But why? Why does this supposed to make you feel like this story is about to take a fishy, not-so-straight turn? When Ali brings up Yusuf's good-looking nature, it's for a reason. Unlike Başkomser Nevzat who had described him as a beautiful man at the beginning to state a fact; Ali isn't there to state facts, Ali is there to make a point. As they were interrogating the town-folk, Ali asks a man if there were any women who had tried to seduce Yusuf; because Yusuf's so handsome and all that. [Since this guy is incredibly hot, women must throw themselves at him—Ahmet Ümit's trying to say. (In these particular stories; we

ANALYSIS OF THE GARDEN PARTY

The Garden Party is a short imaginary story by the author Katherine Mansfield, published in 1922. Katherine Mansfield is a very well known modernist writer. Rather than focusing on the plot, this novel emphasises the attitudes, feelings and relationships of individuals, and the author paints a picture of the protagonist's inner world as she examines class issues and ponders the meaning of life and death. This short tale takes place in the beginning of the 1900s, mainly in the garden of the Sheridan house in Wellington, New Zealand, where the author spent her youth. It revolves around a death that occurs in the Saunders Road neighbourhood on the day of a family garden party. At first the family ignore the tragedy, too busy planning the party, but as the plot continues they begin to see the brutal realities of life outside their shell. The story's themes are class discrimination and the gap between the upper and lower classes. The story also emphasizes the naivety and cluelessness of the upper-class characters in the face of the harsh realities of life. The story also emphasizes the naivety and cluelessness of the upper-class characters in the face of the harsh realities of life. The most outstanding of the themes in this story is class structure. The main point of comparison in the story is the difference between the rich, elite Sheridans and the poor, working-class Scotts. The author uses the theme of class structure to illustrate how one's social class can affect one's views and behaviour. The narrator highlights the privileges and rights enjoyed by the wealthy and the lack of resources and opportunities available to those in lower socio-economic groups to address social injustice and inequality. Another theme in the story is death. In the story, Laura's view of her

Notes from Underground consists of two parts. The first section is the Underground section. In this section, the worldly and psychological depression experienced by a forty-year-old man whose name is not mentioned is described. The author did not give a name to the hero. We can call this man an Underground Man. An Underground Man is someone who regrets what he has done, does not get angry. He probably likes sweetened tea and people too. Would want to hurt them.19. a century person can't handle being a character. Being conscious is considered a disease in this era. He'd rather be an insect than be so self-conscious. According to him, people with character are very excluded in this era. At the beginning of the work, this Underground Man begins to tell by saying that he is a sick man. The intellectuals of this century are suffering from this disease. There are also those who boast about this disease. The Underground Man, like a doctor, made his own diagnosis himself. He is trying to cure himself. The condition he complains about the most is the feeling of awareness . He is a man who has reached the age of forty, but has not been able to interfere with the forties, he has always been marginalized. The fact that he is so full of anger is a big part of the fact that he cannot be included among people. Dec. He talks about the greatest pleasures in pain. As a pain progresses or December continues, a person gets used to it and begins to feel pleasure, not pain anymore. In the second part of the book, the Underground Man tells why he came to this situation. He is a twenty-four-year-old civil servant. Communication with people is disconnected. He lives in disgust with himself. He mentions the disgusting face of an officer who was working again at that time. He thinks that if he

4/5 Stars (%78/100) God, I forgot how tiring reading e-books can get (especially when it's hard sci-fi like Liu Cixin's stories). However, I liked most of the stories in the collection (some more than others). Overall, it is good and this could also be a good starting point before you dive deep into The Three-Body Problem trilogy. I'll briefly talk about the stories in the collection without spoiling too much. 1-The Village Teacher:A touching story about a village teacher and it emphasizes the importance of knowledge and sharing it. As a teacher, I was able to relate to the teacher to a certain point and it moved me. However, the whole alien thing felt a bit forced in my opinion. 3/5. 2-The Time Migration:People are put to sleep to wake up 120 years into the future. When the ambassador wakes up, the world is not as they hope. So, this continues for a while. A good representation of humanity's greed and their fight against nature. Pretty good. 3.5/5. 3-2018.04.01:The discrepancy between rich and poor, longing for eternal life, and so on. Overall, it was fine. 2.5/5. 4-Fire in the Earth:Another man versus nature story. A man's father dies working in a coal mine so he tries to "tame" the fire. You know how all man vs nature stories end right? 2/5. 5-Contraction:Very ambitious and interesting. The universe is expanding constantly but what if it contracted? The ending was brilliant. 4/5. 6-Mirror:Quite long but interesting nonetheless. String computers and creating universe models...This one reminded me of that building a computer from people scene in The Three-Body Problem. 3/5. 7-Ode to Joy:Pretty good. An alternate story about Sophon (you know the one from well, you guessed it, The Three Body Problem trilogy). The idea of music is woven beautifully and reminded

Review 03/05/22: rtc, happy pub day!! ***** 04/05/22: Thank you NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Get ready for a google docs rant review kids, this is going to be a bumpy ride. Never thought my rating of a book could change so much throughout reading it until I read this one, How To Be The Best Third-Wheel. AKA another reason why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover (because sometimes books with pretty covers turn out to be boring and a waste of your time!). I picked up HTBTBTW, thinking that I would read a fun rom-com about third wheeling and it delivered that, and it delivered even MORE of that and not in a good way. This book was so unnecessarily long, that I just couldn’t stand it anymore and started skimming the last 100 pages. Though, I must say, it did have a great dedication: “To my love life- thank you for being so nonexistent that I had to write this.” This book is about Lara Dela Cruz (what even is that name-) going on a vacation to the Philippines and returning back to school only to find out that all of the members of her girl gang have boyfriends now. Instead of being a normal person and a good friend, she treats them like shit for having boyfriends (????) and then plays the victim. I had an unpleasant experience with those kinds of people, so it was quite fun to read about (ironically I requested the book because I was third wheeling at school after my friend had a new boyfriend)!!!!! I just wanted to hit her with the back of the thickest book I own in my bookshelf. I know that it sounds malicious and weird but I really, really hated her. She was just this selfish, whiny and ungrateful 16 year-old who was not even close to being mature (or even pretending to be mature, for heaven’s sake). I’m not a psychologist

The period is monarch of the Prince Regent who is King George III's son. The time plays an essential role in analyzing the work. Because Mary Shelley is inspired by the characteristic of the Romanticism Period in her work. This period emphasized individualism. Emotions, feelings, and senses are exceedingly significant for understanding the novel. In Frankenstein, the emotional distress of characters is intensely seen. Monster’s emotions states that 'All men hate the wretched; how then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things!’ (Shelley,83).   Frankenstein untitled The Modern Prometheus at the same time. As a second name, The Modern Prometheus is a meaningful choice. Both stories have related subtexts. Prometheus is the creator of mankind in greek mythology. So, there is both creator a living thing in both stories. Then he desires to give fire to mankind but Zeus does not accept it.  Then he gives fire to men and Zeus is riled by this action. They are associated they both suffer from their decisions too. Frankenstein's era’s difficulty is capitalism and Prometheus time's problem is gods in his perspective. They both break natural order. Prometheus generate men with clay. Surely, clay is an element of nature. It is unique that humanities created in nature. On the other hand,Victor originated the monster from dead bodies and it is the opposite of nature from the begginning of the story. Plus, the fire symbolized as electricity
