I’ve had the chance to read one of the classics again. In general I would say the book was really good. The energy between the sisters and their relationship with their mother was marvelous. The overall dialogues were much easier to read. I would say out of 4 sisters my favourite one would be Jo. Because she is so out of the ordinary and likes to do things no one expects from her. Also she is the most reasonable one among the sisters. Especially much more smarter, reasonable then Meg. In the book we read the story of 4 sisters who are trying to live in a poor condition. The sisters are: 1. Amy: The youngest March girl. Amy is an artist who adores visual beauty and has a weakness for pretty possessions. She is given to pouting, fits of temper, and vanity; but she does attempt to improve herself. Only her jelousy would be my only negative point especially when she burned Jo’s book. 2. Jo: Jo has a temper and a quick tongue, although she works hard to control both. She is a tomboy, and reacts with impatience to the many limitations placed on women and girls. She hates romance in her real life, and wants nothing more than to hold her family together. (My Personal Favorite) 3. Beth: The third March daughter. Beth is very quiet and very virtuous, and she does nothing but try to please others. She adores music and plays the piano very well. 4. Meg: The oldest March sister. Responsible and kind, Meg mothers her younger sisters. She has a small weakness for luxury and leisure, but the greater part of her is gentle, loving, and morally vigorous. (Least Favorite) In General, I liked the little conversations between girls. I think the main reason would be because they’re child and they always talk meaningless stuff and it’s easy to understand. The way they fight through

The Compound Effect describes the phenomenon whereby small actions repeated regularly impact the course of our lives over the long term. The more these actions are repeated, the more their effects accumulate exponentially. This is also called the snowball effect. This book shows us that by making a little effort every day, we can achieve anything, lose weight, earn money, become more educated ... I personally love this philosophy. I don't believe in this world that wants everything right away, patience pays; To conclude, here are the most important ideas to remember about the cumulative effect: -To benefit from the cumulative effect you must have a specific goal in mind. -We must learn to make the right choices, i.e. make decisions that are in line with our objectives. -We must develop good habits. -Setting goals and planning is necessary, but we must also take action. -The cumulative effect does not happen overnight, you have to be patient. -The road to success can sometimes be boring. It is important to vary our routines from time to time. -Information, relationships and our environment influence the way we think, act and decide. We have to make sure that these influences help us to go in the right direction and not the opposite. -Making the extra effort helps us to move faster in the long run. According to ARISTOTE: "We are what we repeatedly do."

First Principles is Herbert Spencer's huge prospectus to the rest of his work, the synthetic philosophy. Spencer divides truth into the Unknowable and Knowable. Whether god(s) exists or not, whether the universe is eternal or was created is unknowable. We can't conceive of self-creation, eternity, or nothingness. This makes the positions of theism/deism, atheism and pantheism up to dispute. The ultimate nature of physical reality, or materialism versus idealism, is also unknowable, as we can't conceive of space and time or matter in themselves even though we depend on them. So Spencer's basically an agnostic. We should be open minded and not conflate our beliefs with the truth. What we can know, and this is philosophy, is systematic or general knowledge of phenomena. All we can know are the effects of the ultimate force(s) behind the universe. Force is the starting point as whatever we know is what impinges on our perception. We give primacy to our ideas of space time matter and energy to this force, though these are meaningful as mental relations and not things in themselves. The truths of philosophy are to be found in the most general scientific truths. The rest of the work focuses on the processes of evolution and dissolution which govern matter. Evolution is a concentration of matter and decrease in motion, dissolution is a decomposition of matter and increase in motion (death). Spencer sees evolution in the formation of planets from stardust and the development from a single cell to the diversity of life, macrocosm and microcosm. Through both evolution and dissolution, Spencer derives the Law of Progress of the universe from a state of homogeneity to a state of heterogeneity, simplicity to complexity. The same cause has multiple effects as forces do not act

Review 03/05/22: rtc, happy pub day!! ***** 04/05/22: Thank you NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Get ready for a google docs rant review kids, this is going to be a bumpy ride. Never thought my rating of a book could change so much throughout reading it until I read this one, How To Be The Best Third-Wheel. AKA another reason why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover (because sometimes books with pretty covers turn out to be boring and a waste of your time!). I picked up HTBTBTW, thinking that I would read a fun rom-com about third wheeling and it delivered that, and it delivered even MORE of that and not in a good way. This book was so unnecessarily long, that I just couldn’t stand it anymore and started skimming the last 100 pages. Though, I must say, it did have a great dedication: “To my love life- thank you for being so nonexistent that I had to write this.” This book is about Lara Dela Cruz (what even is that name-) going on a vacation to the Philippines and returning back to school only to find out that all of the members of her girl gang have boyfriends now. Instead of being a normal person and a good friend, she treats them like shit for having boyfriends (????) and then plays the victim. I had an unpleasant experience with those kinds of people, so it was quite fun to read about (ironically I requested the book because I was third wheeling at school after my friend had a new boyfriend)!!!!! I just wanted to hit her with the back of the thickest book I own in my bookshelf. I know that it sounds malicious and weird but I really, really hated her. She was just this selfish, whiny and ungrateful 16 year-old who was not even close to being mature (or even pretending to be mature, for heaven’s sake). I’m not a psychologist

welcome to another episode of "why is this girl constantly hyperventilating when she's talking about books" series. it's good to see you here. "I do not know where the laws come from, but I know I could sooner halt the tide than change them" okay. *inhales* this book was ADORABLE and HEARTBREAKING. it was an emotional rollercoaster and i like my rollercoasters emotional and unstable. this graphic novel covers the topics of coming-of-age, coming out and getting out of comfort zones. i CRIED during two scenes. yes you guessed it, the coming out scene (i don't want to spoil it so i won't be talking about the other scene). i couldn't have thought of a better ending, it might even be the best ending i've ever read! the illustrations and the colour scheme was GORGEOUS. and i love how the author was inspired by Pinterest when designing the characters' clothes. THE PLOT was perfect. to conclude, let's hype this book up this month because it truly deserves to be recognised. *exhales* thank you for making it this far <3

De Profundis is not a novel or a story. It is an agonizing letter written by Oscar Wilde while he is in prison. When I found out the story of this letter, I wanted to read it right away because it was really interesting to me. Oscar Wilde, who was sentenced for 2 years, was able to hold on to life with a letter he wrote to his lover during that difficult period behind bars. Wilde, who was imprisoned for 2 years in a lousy cell for being gay, wanted to convey his feelings through this letter. This divine and flawless text was very impressive for me. I want to add some parts that impress me so much: “Now it seems to me that love of some kind is the only possible explanation of the extraordinary amount of suffering that there is in the world. I cannot conceive of any other explanation. I am convinced that there is no other, and that if the world has indeed, as I have said, been built of sorrow, it has been built by the hands of love, because in no other way could the soul of man, for whom the world was made, reach the full stature of its perfection. Pleasure for the beautiful body, but pain for the beautiful soul.” “Time and space, succession and extension, are merely accidental conditions of thought, the imagination can transcend them and move in a free sphere of ideal existences. Things also are in their essence of what we choose to make them; a thing is according to the mode in which we look at it.”
