The story revolves around Irene, Gil, and their 3 children. Gil is a painter who is obsessed with his wife Irene. Meanwhile, Irene has her problems. When the relationship between the two gets worse each second, the effect is much greater on the children.
Though I did like the book, I am not particularly a fan of reading fiction that is autobiographical. (most of the time anyway) However, the language is very smooth and easy to understand. The ending was quite surprising and good. Apparently this book is different than usual when compared to other books of Erdrich. It is okay.
