Tek kelimeyle BA-YIL-DIM. Çizgi roman okumaya ara vermiştim ve bu ara istediğimden daha uzun sürmüştü. Ancak Thicker Than Blood’ın çizimlerini gördüğümde o an geri dönmem gerektiğini anladım.

4/5 Stars (%78/100) God, I forgot how tiring reading e-books can get (especially when it's hard sci-fi like Liu Cixin's stories). However, I liked most of the stories in the collection (some more than others). Overall, it is good and this could also be a good starting point before you dive deep into The Three-Body Problem trilogy. I'll briefly talk about the stories in the collection without spoiling too much. 1-The Village Teacher:A touching story about a village teacher and it emphasizes the importance of knowledge and sharing it. As a teacher, I was able to relate to the teacher to a certain point and it moved me. However, the whole alien thing felt a bit forced in my opinion. 3/5. 2-The Time Migration:People are put to sleep to wake up 120 years into the future. When the ambassador wakes up, the world is not as they hope. So, this continues for a while. A good representation of humanity's greed and their fight against nature. Pretty good. 3.5/5. 3-2018.04.01:The discrepancy between rich and poor, longing for eternal life, and so on. Overall, it was fine. 2.5/5. 4-Fire in the Earth:Another man versus nature story. A man's father dies working in a coal mine so he tries to "tame" the fire. You know how all man vs nature stories end right? 2/5. 5-Contraction:Very ambitious and interesting. The universe is expanding constantly but what if it contracted? The ending was brilliant. 4/5. 6-Mirror:Quite long but interesting nonetheless. String computers and creating universe models...This one reminded me of that building a computer from people scene in The Three-Body Problem. 3/5. 7-Ode to Joy:Pretty good. An alternate story about Sophon (you know the one from well, you guessed it, The Three Body Problem trilogy). The idea of music is woven beautifully and reminded

Throughout the years, human beings have developed new movements and ideas with the effects of wars, technological developments and mass changes. The beginning of modernism, which is the movement of the 20th century, is a period in which people question their place and purpose the most and that essential changes take place. Having become acquainted with colonization, capitalism, the theory of evolution, Einstein's theory of relativity and many other new concepts, mankind lost his purpose and faith with the effects of the Great War and atomic bomb. As a result of all this, man as an emotional being became a non-spiritual being. The rationality and aimlessness of modern man, especially western man, caused psychological problems and feeling lonely. Spiritual loneliness, alienation, feeling of emptiness and becoming indifference to surroundings are the basic problems of modern men. Although I am a person who believes in the power of knowledge, I can't ignore the spiritual positive effects of religions on people. On the other part of the world, people living in a way that depends on their traditions, live more moderately and conscientiously than England or other western countries. It is possible to say that the writers and poets of this period touched upon the existential crisis of modern men. In the A passage to India, besides the themes of racism and colonization, the themes of loneliness and spiritual collapse of the modern man are discussed. Marabar Caves is an excellent setting added to the novel by E. M. Forster to reflect these inner conflicts of man. Thinking as a reflection of human nature's incomprehensible sides, Caves' mysterious atmosphere makes them more complex to analyze. First of all, in the beginning of the novel, Mrs. Moore and Adela are planning to see

2/5 Stars. (%42/100) After humanity's encounter with the alien species, a scientist is researching the xenomorph by comparing it to humans, insects, and apes. Though xenomorphs carry similar qualities the aforementioned, they are uniquely intelligent and that makes them very dangerous. The art style was really good. The thing that I really liked is the atmosphere. The atmosphere is very tense and you really feel anxious and even scared even though this is pretty much an introduction and very short volume. In general, it was okay and almost three stars for me.

5/5 Stars (%88/100) I've read the Turkish edition before and absolutely loved it. I believe it was my first book by Zelazny. Now that I'm reading it in the original language and that I know Zelazny's style, I can appreciate it even more. I admit it is still not as good as Lord of Light but man that book is phenomenal. This Immortal revolves around a mysterious named man Conrad Nomikos who has an interesting past he rather not talk about and he is apparently the Art Commissioner of Earth. An alien comes to Earth and Conrad is his guide. However, everything changes when someone tries to assassinate the alien and Conrad saves him. Conrad's character is brilliant in my opinion. Zelazny himself also admits that he is like a prototype for Sam from Lord of Light meaning he is both supernatural and well ordinary. The identity of Conrad is an ambiguity in the book. He might Great God Pan or a kallikantzaros (a type of goblin) or none of them or both, we don't know and that's the beauty of it. There are a lot of things going on in the story but you can't help but wonder about Conrad's true identity. The ending of the book is also brilliant. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone.
