First and foremost, I truly admire this family—they are incredibly accomplished and well-educated. I have a deep respect for the journey they’ve taken, and I enjoy learning about both their challenges and successes. Reaching such a level of achievement is never the result of chance or ease; it takes resilience, dedication, and strength. No one arrives at that point without facing obstacles along the way. Life is a mixture of hardships and triumphs, and it’s through navigating both that true growth happens.

I think I can say it’s one of the rare English books I finished in one sitting. While listening and reading, I knew many things were waiting for me, but not all of them. Some things shocked me, and with some, I found myself saying, "How is this possible?" Is everyone living a completely different life behind the camera? Is no one aware of what others are going through? But it ended well, didn’t it? The bad ones were punished, and the good ones, despite the harm they suffered, managed to survive. This was like a very realistic fairy tale, with the only bad part being that everything was real. One of the beautiful aspects of the book was how easy it was to read, and while listening, feeling like Shari, becoming her, I thought many times, "How could she endure all this?" Because after living through these things, writing about them as well... I hope more people, especially children in similar situations, are saved from such circumstances. And throughout the book, I think the part I loved most was the dedication. "To anybody who has been silenced, gaslit, abused, or lonely. You are stronger than you know. May earthly and heavenly angels lift you up." And as Shari said, "Finally, it ends here."

THE SATIRIC FEATURES OF ALEXANDER POPE'S POEM THE RAPE OF LOCK

Alexander Pope's poem The Rape of the Lock is a critique of the idiosyncrasies and foibles of English aristocratic society. Pope uses wit, sarcasm and irony to convey his moral message. Pope depicts the false tone of the time and the frivolity of women, whilst acting sympathetically as the voice of his generation. The play is a social satire in that it pokes fun at society in a way that can still be applied in the modern day. The satire is not aimed at one individual, but at the faults and vanities of fashionable men and women at large. Pope's poem The Rape of the Lock was based on a real-life incident between two people, told to him by his friend John Caryll. The Baron was the suitor of Arabella Fermor, Lord Petre, and Belinda was her. Arabella was furious, and the two families began to denigrate and ignore each other, until Pope wrote the poem to make light of the tragedy and to bring them back together again. Pope's memory of the joyful conclusion of the poem evolves with the times. Pope immediately wrote the first draft of the poem, which he then shared with the family for some time. This version was published unnamed in 1712 and was much briefer than the most commonly read version. Things got more difficult at this point. The sensual implications and multiple meanings of Pope's poem became more apparent as more people read the printed version, and Arabella Fermor was mortified when her friends began to point out the crude humour. The real Sir Plume of the poem, Sir Charles Brown, took offence at being called a fool. Pope transformed the basic story into a fantastical setting by including sylphs and nymphs. In order to appease Arabella Fermor, Pope wrote a dedication to the poem. Poem became a success and has been the subject of praise, criticism and debate ever

Review 03/05/22: rtc, happy pub day!! ***** 04/05/22: Thank you NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Get ready for a google docs rant review kids, this is going to be a bumpy ride. Never thought my rating of a book could change so much throughout reading it until I read this one, How To Be The Best Third-Wheel. AKA another reason why you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover (because sometimes books with pretty covers turn out to be boring and a waste of your time!). I picked up HTBTBTW, thinking that I would read a fun rom-com about third wheeling and it delivered that, and it delivered even MORE of that and not in a good way. This book was so unnecessarily long, that I just couldn’t stand it anymore and started skimming the last 100 pages. Though, I must say, it did have a great dedication: “To my love life- thank you for being so nonexistent that I had to write this.” This book is about Lara Dela Cruz (what even is that name-) going on a vacation to the Philippines and returning back to school only to find out that all of the members of her girl gang have boyfriends now. Instead of being a normal person and a good friend, she treats them like shit for having boyfriends (????) and then plays the victim. I had an unpleasant experience with those kinds of people, so it was quite fun to read about (ironically I requested the book because I was third wheeling at school after my friend had a new boyfriend)!!!!! I just wanted to hit her with the back of the thickest book I own in my bookshelf. I know that it sounds malicious and weird but I really, really hated her. She was just this selfish, whiny and ungrateful 16 year-old who was not even close to being mature (or even pretending to be mature, for heaven’s sake). I’m not a psychologist

4/5 Stars (%83/100) A brilliant collection of short stories. Ted Chiang is an important person in contemporary science-fiction literature. In this era, we don't really see people writing fiction especially sci-fi and fantasy. I've heard about the film Arrival but I wanted to watch it after reading the book. The film is directly inspired by "Story of Your Life" in the book. Though many people seem to focus solely on that story, it is not my favourite and there are great stories in the book. My favourite is definitely "Understand" and followed by "Tower of Babylon" which won the 1991 Nebula Award for Best Novelette. Don't get me wrong, "Story of Your Life" was also a brilliant story that revolves around an interesting idea. The best thing about the book, for me, is the things in the stories are very much possible considering our technology today. Chiang has an amazing imagination and vast knowledge about a variety of things. I've read that he spent 5 years learning about linguistics just to write "Story of Your Life." That is pure dedication and he deserves respect and admiration. The other stories are also based on other sciences and they are very believable because Chiang provides you with many information. Since it is my favourite story, I'll mention "Understand." The story revolves around a man who is experimented on. People created a drug that allows you to heal your brain damage and make you much more smarter. Our protagonist is one of the subjects who volunteered to take the drug. After becoming more intelligent each second, he decides to quit the program and do things his own way. I'll let you read the rest yourself. The thing that I really liked was the whole process of getting smarter. He does not instantly reach genius level instead, he studies and reads a
