A brilliant and must-have dictionary for Tolkien fans but also very useful for people who are reading his books or plan to. There is information about pretty much everything; places, trees, birds, creatures, elves, men, dwarves, and many more that I am not even going to bother to write. The descriptions are usually short but very informative. Some are longer than others such as Elves, Valar, Men, Bilbo Baggins, and other more important characters and places. Thus, whenever I need to look up a word about Tolkien's works, I am going to read this book instead of using the Internet. On top of being a great dictionary, there are a lot of illustrations about the characters, places and so forth. The only thing that bothered me a bit is the fact that they are all in black and white. I have David Day's The Dark Powers of Tolkien and the illustrations in that book are all colored and the overall design of the book is better in my opinion. Finally, I think this is a brilliant book if you want to easily access information about Tolkien's world and also a very good piece to have as part of a collection.

Yeni bir seriye geçmeden, kitabın kapağı ile dikkatimi çeken bir Fransız polisiyesi okumak istedim. Kapağı tasarlayan Parodi Design daki çalışan her kimse, O’na bir maaş ikramiye verilmeli.
Kitap hakkında ne söylesem spoiler olacak. Güzel miydi? Evet. Sürükleyici miydi? Orta karar. Soruşturmadaki 4 gün dolu dolu anlatılmış. Mekan tasvirleri falan güzeldi. Fransa’daki mekanların resimlerine Google Haritalardan bakarak hikayenin içine girmeye çalıştım. Olayın çözülmesinde daha fazla zeka pırıltısı görmeyi bekledim. Yazar bence bu hususta biraz eksik kalmış. Romanı okurken Komiser Dupin ve yardımcılarının daha çok işbirliği içinde olmasını istedim. Komisere gıcık oldum. Yazar belki de bunu istemişti. Başarmış.

I can't think of anything wrong with this volume. This is probably my favorite book out of all 23 volumes. Mt. Nagatumo arc continues with even more difficult battles against spiders. I really like Rui's design and powers even though I hated him at first. The star of this volume is chapter 40 that shows Hinokami Kagura for the first time. Even though this was one of the best scenes in the series or even in anime history, it is at least 2 times better in anime with brilliant animation, soundtrack (Kamado Tanjiro no Uta), and art style. Nezuko also shines in this volume along with Giyuu who comes back after many chapters. Tanjiro's kindness towards someone like Rui is also very touching. Overall, it is a very powerful, sad, and important volume in the whole series.

This volume was definitely better than the previous one. The fight scenes are great as always but the character development is phenomenal. We are introduced to a new demon, Daki, who has a very cool design by the way, and she is one of the Upper Moon as well. We know from Akaza how absurdly strong Upper Moons are. Tanjiro is great as always but Nezuko shines in this volume and I cannot stress enough how great she is. Along with Daki, Gyutaro, her brother, is also introduced. Overall, I think it was a really good volume full of action, side stories, and character development. This arc is still far from over so get ready for more action in the next volume!

It was much better than the previous volume but I now realized a problem with pacing. The Introduction Arc ends and immediately the next short arc starts in this volume. We learn more about the members of the 8th. We are also introduced to a character named Joker and he is by far one of my favorites in the whole series. I've always liked trickster type characters and I think Joker's design and character are great. In general, I am really fond of the art style. Overall, it was a good volume and I am curious to see what happens next.

The relationship between Nataku and Kurono is well, weird. At least, Nataku will not fall into the hands of the enemy but we don't know if it's good because Kurono likes beating up weak opponents. Still, Kurono has cool abilities and character design. The comedic parts with Arthur were great as always. There is also the case of Iris who is on the verge of losing faith because the Church is basically a sham. It was a good volume but could be better so that's why it's on the lower side of 4 points.

I had a hard time rating this book. The cover is beautiful, the whole design of the book is brilliant and there are dozens of pretty illustrations together with maps, timelines, and so forth. Visually, the book is stunning and can be a great piece for Tolkien lovers. However, I have to admit that the things discussed in the book are not very great. Starting from Melkor and going all the way to the Third Age, Day compares the evil figures in Tolkien's works with figures from Greek and Norse mythology as well as Judeo-Christian images. The biggest problem I had with these is, as many others already pointed out, that there is not enough evidence or it feels a bit of stretch. For example, comparing Ungoliant with Kali the Hindu Goddess because they have eight legs/arms. Also, the comparison between Sauron and Solomon regarding the ring. There are many examples like this and it becomes repetitive after a while. However, it was still interesting to see certain connections and parallels despite the lack of evidence. I think the book would have been better if it only focused on the evil figures in Tolkien's works, like a summary or description of all the bad guys because the illustrations are beautiful and they are great to learn more about these somewhat complicated characters (honestly, that's what I thought the book was about before I've read it). Finally, even though there are some problems, I think rating the book extremely low is a bit harsh as I enjoyed reading it and looking at the pictures.

It was a pretty interesting volume overall. There are many characters and it is a bit complicated to follow everyone. Royal Knights selection exam begins and pretty much everyone fights each other. We can see how everyone has improved. This is also the volume in which Zora Ideale is introduced. His character design is absolutely beautiful. He also has a very interesting magic (ash trap magic). In general, I actually liked this book. It was full of non-stop action and fights.
