In Amis’s famous novel, London Fields, the witty language is used and highlighted in the book repatedly. With the use of wit and pan (word play) Amis creates one of the most intelligent written novel ‘London Fields’. These uses of high elevated language and word plays also gives us the hints of postmodern fiction. As the novel is considered one of the best novel representing postmodernism, one can appreciate it due to the style that the novel is written, by means of wit and language. To give examples from the book; -It was fixed. It was written. The murderer was not the murderer. But the murderee had always been a murderee. The quote from Samson Young foreshadows that the real murderer is not the one we think, it will change. However the murderee ‘Nicola’ will always be the victim, not be affected by the inconstant murderer. - I know what his poetry will be about. What poetry is always about. The cruelty of the poet’s mistress. In this quote we can also sense the metaphor that is made to Nicola. Here Samson , as a writer, claims that the poets are writing poetry due to the relationship between their mistresses. It is known that Young also writes a novel about Nicola, creating the same plot with the poets he criticizes. -I close my eyes, trying to see a way- how do writers dare do what they do ? – and there is just chaos. It seems to me that writing brings trouble with it, moral trouble, unexamined trouble. Even to the best. -When God got mad he was a jealous God. He had other planets, thanks, and in better parts of the universe. He promised plague, famine mile-high tides, sound-speed winds and terror, ubiquitous and incessant terror, with blood flowing bridle deep. He threatened to make her old and keep her that way forever… Cross that firebreak and then cross that

Gad SAAD. I could have written you something nice. Really. If you hadn't used the phrase "Performative revolution by pampered and lobotomized fools." Remember? I'm not against thinking and producing; I'm with you. But oops! I'm a Muslim too. What does THAT mean to you? Isn't it a bad thing? Exactly. I don't know if anyone has said it before, but all you do is victim literature, Dr. Sir. The West is down, the East is up. Where is a human being? Forget about that. You don't have the capacity to understand that the disgusting things you say about Islam are human-made. Islam is not a sick culture; it is the last religion revealed and perfected. What's sick are the ideas of people like you. I respect people; not ridiculous ideas. Someone who calls Islam "Suicidal Empathy." What a waste of words.

the fact that i didn't hate this makes me think. and i wrote a small essay on the queer story for personal reasons. here it is (spoilers ahead): There's a story in here about a gay man who commits a murder with his lover and the upbringing of this entire plotline is so interesting that I will try to break it down. Ahmet Ümit is not at all interested in describing his characters with many details. But when Başkomser Nevzat is introduced to this young man, Yusuf, he mentions his black mustache and burning hazel eyes; before describing him as "a man so beautiful that even the most innocent of women would be tempted by the sight of him." It feels already weird enough that his main character -a masculine, macho type cop guy who solves murder mysteries- describes an another man's beauty in such delicate details. Even Ali, Başkomser Nevzat's assistant who is also a macho guy that puts in extra effort to look tough (because he's young and still learning), also calls Yusuf "quite handsome" at some point. Now you might find yourself thinking, "Hm... There might be something queer going on in here." Because that's exactly what Ahmet Ümit wants you to think. But why? Why does this supposed to make you feel like this story is about to take a fishy, not-so-straight turn? When Ali brings up Yusuf's good-looking nature, it's for a reason. Unlike Başkomser Nevzat who had described him as a beautiful man at the beginning to state a fact; Ali isn't there to state facts, Ali is there to make a point. As they were interrogating the town-folk, Ali asks a man if there were any women who had tried to seduce Yusuf; because Yusuf's so handsome and all that. [Since this guy is incredibly hot, women must throw themselves at him—Ahmet Ümit's trying to say. (In these particular stories; we

< And when she does look up, her gaze always goes to the edge of town. "A dreamer," scorns her mother. "A dreamer," mourns her father. "A dreamer," warns Estele. Still, it does not seem such a bad word. “Her mother wishes she was more like Isabelle Therault,

"I don't really understand 'Les Fleur Du Mal'.. I was just... intoxicated by the act of reading it!" This hits home really hard. Even though the way of telling the story through middle schoolers is not something I like a lot, the themes and message is very relateable. Although, perhaps middle-schoolers is not a bad choice. I can see how someone just hitting puberty fits the required characterization. By the way, "Saeki-san, I've always had this one-sided love for her... She was my muse, ans I worshipped her like an angel... I wanted her to remain as an angel forever... I didn't want to face the actual person..." this line, this confession to his self is my favorite thing so far. It made me remember an old film named "Time to Love" (Sevmek Zamanı) by Metin Erksan and also a song by Massive Attack called "Spoils" which both deal with the same thing: The act of loving someone or something you idealised and idolized in your mind rather than the actual thing or person. I feel like Aku no Hana could be the Japanese equivalent of these, but I have a feeling it will diverse in the next volumes and not focus on that aspect, which would be a shame because it lays down the perfect frame for a story like that if it just continues on this path. But my guess is it'll focus more on the flowers of evil and inner darkness and emotions rather than that. Nevertheless, I like this manga.

"I'm disappointed. In the end it turns out you're just like everyone else. Their vomit-like chatter and laughter hardening together like shit. Who has a crush on who... Who doesn't like who... All scum that would be better off dead! Just spewing out pretty words. Inside... all of you! Sex, sex! In the end, fucking sex is all you want!" I really don't like Nakamura, but she is the only person who gets the flowers of evil that is blossoming in both Kasuga and her. The rotten and dark side of all humans is something we have to face at one point. And in reality, some people actually do face this part very early because of dark events in their lives. From what I get, Nakamura is someone who had to face this part because of bad events that happened to her whereas Kasuga deliberately delves into this darker world and his darker self and exploring it through the French poet's work, and now partially with Nakamura forcing him. I had watched the anime before, and as far as I know it's unfinished because it didn't get a second season in animation. But I remember this very iconic episode. It's bland in manga but the animated version of the classroom scene in the anime is so cathartic that I go back to watch it from time to time. This manga does a very good job making me feel rebellious against this wretched and stupid world at one moment and then making me feel embarrassed for feeling so by toning down those moments and turning them into shameful moments. It's a roller coaster.
