[English] The book takes us through the years from 1989 to 1997, a period when civil war broke out in Albania, as seen through the eyes of a child. We witness the collapse of a familiar world as the country shifts from a communist regime to a liberal economy. During this time, even the child’s own family reveals unexpected sides of themselves in order to survive. As the title suggests, we accompany the author through a coming-of-age journey in a world that’s falling apart. A central theme that is repeatedly emphasized throughout the book is the concept of freedom.

2023 10. kitabı
The Garden Party is a short imaginary story by the author Katherine Mansfield, published in 1922. Katherine Mansfield is a very well known modernist writer. Rather than focusing on the plot, this novel emphasises the attitudes, feelings and relationships of individuals, and the author paints a picture of the protagonist's inner world as she examines class issues and ponders the meaning of life and death. This short tale takes place in the beginning of the 1900s, mainly in the garden of the Sheridan house in Wellington, New Zealand, where the author spent her youth. It revolves around a death that occurs in the Saunders Road neighbourhood on the day of a family garden party. At first the family ignore the tragedy, too busy planning the party, but as the plot continues they begin to see the brutal realities of life outside their shell. The story's themes are class discrimination and the gap between the upper and lower classes. The story also emphasizes the naivety and cluelessness of the upper-class characters in the face of the harsh realities of life. The story also emphasizes the naivety and cluelessness of the upper-class characters in the face of the harsh realities of life. The most outstanding of the themes in this story is class structure. The main point of comparison in the story is the difference between the rich, elite Sheridans and the poor, working-class Scotts. The author uses the theme of class structure to illustrate how one's social class can affect one's views and behaviour. The narrator highlights the privileges and rights enjoyed by the wealthy and the lack of resources and opportunities available to those in lower socio-economic groups to address social injustice and inequality. Another theme in the story is death. In the story, Laura's view of her

A BETTER WORLD?! A UTOPIA?! IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! Allow me to start by thanking the amazing Karl Popper. He is one of my favorite writers. He has such an irresistible style of writing which combines excellent literary devices with (humane) scientific statements. So, he makes science very pleasant and enjoyable. My first contact with Popper's ideas was through other authors. And by recommendation of one of them, I decide to read this book. This great selection of Popper's lectures is, perhaps, a selection exactly appropriate for those interested in starting to explore his philosophy, ideas, and concepts. Concise, simple, and easy to read, the book is a passionate defense of freedom, democracy, and the free market. Always emphasizing the modesty necessary to the intellectuals, from its origins Xenofanes and Socrates, he defends western values, without ever forgetting Churchill's statement about democracy being the least worse form of government. These two aforementioned features become a north in the book, preventing him from falling into common fanaticisms and generalizations. In this book, Popper talked about many things (mainly scientific issues for sure). There was a common theme in all of those issues he discussed: Optimism. Popper emphasized so many times the 'goodness' of our human species. He refused the arguments that present humans as innately evil - he believes humans are innately and essentially good. That's why he is very optimistic about having a 'better world' sometime in the future. Popper's belief, in the human ability to overcome all of the evil things which overwhelm our world today, is actually infectious! It forces the reader to believe as well. This thing alone, to me, makes the book AMAZING!

"You are my antithesis, Luella. You are the queen of life.” “And you are the king of death,” The elves come for two things:war and wives. In both cases, they come for death. Three-thousand years ago, humans were killed by some races have wild magic skills. But, later the treaty was made. For centuries, Elves have taken a young woman from Luella’s village to be their Human Queen. Nineteen-year-old Luella is a healer in her town Capton. The Elf King chose Luella as his wife, and as a Human Queen of Midscape. Luella should learn how to control powers she never expected to save a dying world that is a land filled with wild magic. I read the first book of Air Awakens series by Elise Kova. And while I’m searching author’s other books, A Deal With The Elf King caught my attention. I really liked it.This is inspired by Beauty and Beast, Hades and Persephone myth. I really liked Luella because she is clever and stubborn in addition to her sense of humor. I loved Eldas. The relationship between Eldas and Luella was slow, they knew each other slowly and then falling love with each other. So I recommed A Deal With The Elf King. I’m sure you’ll love it.

John Barth is the most important postmodernist novelist and his works of art fiction and reality somehow is complicated. It becomes difficult to decide which one is real and which one is fiction. Blurring and uncertainty is so immense that sometimes it is problematic to understand what is happening and what is going on this story. In the story we have suspicions and questions. All the time, nothing is accepted, and we have a sceptical reading. Every concern and everything are sceptical, and we should not forget that the question is very important. Linda Hutcheon talks about self-reflexivity. Do nothing that we are pieces of reality. In fact, we are fictional. They all the time try to make us aware of being fictional. This progress is self-reflexivity of postmodernist works of art. Another word, it shows us through metafiction, through inflectional references, through parody and pastiche. The author used mostly the techniques of metafiction. The author often comments on the narration and sometimes criticizes creation. While narrating the story, he starts to tell very unusual thing, or he starts to give some certain clues related to the techniques. So, all these things help you understand that be aware. This is not a sort of real thing. Do not get lost in the magical story. The other is playful language. Immitations of the language is one of the problems that postmodernist author criticizes. They try to challenge the limitations through playing with the languages. Pronunciations and the spelling of these words are somehow distorted. It shows “mock “this is the motto of postmodernism. Parody, fragmented narration, open ended closure, intertextual references, and uncertainty are the other concepts or techniques used in the novel. Open ended closure is sometimes subverted
