This book is a detailed discussion of trauma between Oprah Winfrey and psychiatrist Bruce Perry. It can be difficult to read because it deals with a heavy and serious subject. There were some aspects of the book that I did not like. Oprah can sometimes get out of context and give cliché self-improvement talk that she's used to. Like finishing the book with "trauma makes you stronger." I don't think those children who experienced trauma wished to be a stronger person at the time. And there was nothing in the book that mentioned that. Also, I didn't like the figures of the book about the cortex, limbic system , diencephalon, brainstem, etc. Not because I didn't understand these terms, but because they seem boring and useless to me. The most interesting part of the book was the discussions about connectedness. When a person is dysregulated, they try to reach for various things to regulate themselves, to seek comfort, and to fill their reward bucket . Like belief, friends and family, food, drugs, alcohol, etc. Everyone's bucket contains different things with different proportions. Dr. Perry says that the most powerful form of reward is relational - positive interactions with people. Having access to a number of caring people is a better predictor of good outcomes following trauma than having access to a therapist. But we live in a world where people see less people. They work in very intense and tiring jobs. They forget the importance of connectedness and become isolated. That's why in this modern times, people got become weaker and less resilient. Continuous social interactions provide a rich source of regulation, reward, and learning. I would rather work with people I can laugh and talk with in a very busy job than work with people I can't have a conversation with in

•Literary Analysis of "Comment on Meurt" by Émile Zola• Émile Zola's short story "Comment on Meurt" ("How One Dies") is a poignant exploration of death through the lens of various characters from different social strata. Zola, known for his naturalistic style, employs a meticulous attention to detail and a focus on the harsh realities of life to present a multifaceted narrative on mortality. •Themes and Motifs• The central theme of the story is death, and Zola examines this universal experience through different perspectives. The story is structured around five vignettes, each depicting the death of a person from a different social class. Through this structure, Zola underscores the inevitability of death, regardless of one’s social standing, while also highlighting the disparities in how death is experienced and perceived. •Social Commentary• Zola’s narrative serves as a critique of the social inequalities of his time. The deaths of the wealthy are surrounded by comfort and dignity, while those of the poor are marked by neglect and suffering. This stark contrast reflects Zola’s broader critique of a society that is deeply divided along class lines, where the privileges of the rich starkly contrast with the hardships of the poor. •Naturalism and Realism• True to his naturalist style, Zola presents death in a raw and unembellished manner. He does not shy away from the physical and emotional realities of dying, providing a detailed and often stark portrayal. This realism serves to confront the reader with the often-ignored aspects of mortality, making the narrative both compelling and unsettling. •Characterization• Each vignette in "Comment on Meurt" provides a glimpse into the lives of its characters, offering insights into their personalities, values, and

I was gonna give this 8 stars but then I watched the movie's trailer and cried. I just couldn't. It is a beautiful story. And an amazing idea of heaven. We all seek closure in our lives. It is the only way to move on, to be happy. And heaven is a place for that. It really makes sense. And the epilogue is so beautiful. I almost cried. It has very beautiful quotes too. "That's what heaven is. You get to make sense of your yesterdays." "Holding anger is poison. It eats you from the inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves." "Lost love is still love, Eddie. It takes a different form, that's all."

When I read the sentence "One paper published by a Duke University researcher in 2006 found that more than 40 percent of the actions people performed each day weren't actual actions, but habits. " I begin to understand the power of habit. As the book continued to bombard me with those fascinating lots of information my apprehension about habits deepened. I have some kind of habits that I want so hard to change (As a human being, we all have the undesirable habits.) At first I thought it was all the will power that it takes to change a habit. I tried, and for a while it worked. After some critical temptations, I failed again and again. I understood, there must be another way. Just the lack of willpower can't be reason for my failure. And indeed, thanks to this book, I realized it takes such a complicated mechanism to change a habit or create a new one. This book says a habit has three stages: Cue, Routine, Reward. When I see Cue, I will do Routine in order to get a Reward. This is the formula of habit loop. Understanding the mechanism of habit is not enough to change it. As the researchers say, it is nearly impossible to eradicate a habit. Rather, all you have to do is changing the routine stage. To do that : identify the routine, experiment with rewards, isolate the cue, have a plan. Also keep in mind, experiments have shown that almost all habitual cues fit into one of five categories: Location, time, emotional state, other people, immediately preceding action. Besides, neurology of habits and its impressive stories caught me off guard. Story of Eugene Pauly who lost his memory but still kept his habits and still make new habits was priceless to a med student. Starbucks' customer hunt story was read-worthy as well. But what made me wide-eyed was the companies'

Comparison Between Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights  There are many authors who show us 18th century British society. While some of the authors glorify the community life in the 18th century, some of them criticize the century by their strict rules about the women and social discriminations. Undoubtedly, Emily Bronte and Jane Austen are known as for social criticism or acute perception of gender roles in their society. The works of these two important authors are not about the French Revolution or the wars. They prefer generally to focus on ordinary people, daily life and love. Our writers, who lived in a time when marriages dictated the status of women in society, expressed themselves in a way and produced excellent works . Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte are books that have similarities and differences for readers. This paper will analyse British society by the 18th century and make a comparison between Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights.  To achieve this, I have organized my paper into three sections. In the first section, I will talk about the 18th century Britain, also known as the Victorian age and the value of women in society in those times. Secondly, I am going to give some information about the author’s life and their writing styles. In the end, I will do some analysis about the differences and similarities of  Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights in aspects of main characters.      According to many historians, the reform movement in 1832 is the original beginning of the Victorian era, also the Victorian age is called the Romantic era. Courtship is considered a tradition in those days and has been very popular. Queen Victoria and her family are the Victorian society’s heroes. Society finds

Can Genealogical Research Prove/Disprove Details of a Past Life Regression? SUMMARY: This post details my attempts to use genealogical research methods to verify a past life regression as reported in the book "Journey of Souls" by Dr. Michael Newton. Case: In Chapter Five of Newton's book, just prior to Case 13, we find the following: [T]his subject had experienced a recent series of male lives, culminating with a short life as a prosecuting attorney called Ross Feldon in the state of Oklahoma during the 1880s. As Ross, my client had committed suicide at age thirty-three in a hotel room by shooting himself in the head. Ross was in despair over the direction his life had taken as a courtroom prosecutor. While these details were vague, I knew by my eleven years worth of experience in genealogy research that if this person did indeed exist, documentary proof would likely be found of them, their professional life, or their death. CONCLUSION: After a reasonably exhaustive search of a rather robust selection of primary resources, no person resembling Ross Feldon was found. In my opinion, either this person never existed, or there are substantial details about the individual (name, location, time frame) that are incorrect. In my experience, it can be very hard to find an individual of which you know very little, but the amount of information given in this past life regression should have been enough to locate this man if he ever existed. While it is true that he lived on the far western
