Rutger Bregman’s book Humankind is one of the books that questions negative ideas about human nature and makes readers think. For many years, many people believed that humans are naturally selfish, bad, and only care about themselves. However, Bregman does not agree with this idea. According to him, human nature is not as dark as people think. Instead, people are more willing to help each other, understand others’ feelings, and do good things. In the book, the author supports these ideas with many examples from wars, psychology experiments, history, and biology. One of the best parts of the book is that it gives hope about humanity. Still, when I finished the book, I did not only feel admiration. On one side, I was happy to read it because it made me think differently. On the other side, some of the author’s ideas felt too optimistic to me. Because of this, the book was both interesting and questionable for me. One of the strongest parts of the book is that it makes people question ideas about human nature that many accept without thinking. Today, we often see violence, murder, wars, and fights on television, social media, and in the news. After some time, people start to believe that the world is full of bad people. At this point, Bregman asks an important question: If humans were really bad by nature, how could societies survive for so many years? A big part of human history was shaped by helping each other, working together, and surviving together. From this side, the writer’s ideas are important and meaningful. His ideas against the belief that humans are naturally wild are especially interesting. Today, when someone behaves badly, people sometimes say, “Did you grow up in a cave?” However, Bregman says that hunter-gatherer societies were not as violent as many

Before I start, I want to express that I didn't read this book in paperback but listened to it in its original language from Storytel. Tbh I was kind of disappointed with this book, because my expectations were different and way higher. I already know a great deal about ADHD, or so it seems, since I haven't learned much new about this situation from this book. It's probably great for people who don't know anything about ADHD, it was fun, relatable, and the narrators (people reading the book out loud in the app) were great. It was engaging and all, but l expected something totally different, so it didn't captivate me as I thought it would. But it's still a good read and was fairly enjoyable

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start. I never expected this book to completely draw me in like this. It actually surprised me multiple times. Just when I thought I had figured everything out and knew what was going on, I realized the author had tricked me again. There were so many unexpected events. From the very beginning, it feels like we were reading a lie. Wow… Especially the way the story shifts between the present and the past… I’m once again grateful that I know English. The reason I picked up the book was because it was the audiobook Taylor listened to in the Eras Tour documentary. I wish I could have listened to it as an audiobook too, but still—it was truly a great experience. It was very engaging to read, constantly making me wonder what would happen next, where everything was heading… And I also loved how everything was tied together in the end. Especially the final sentence was beautiful. Açıkçası nereden başlasam bilemiyorum. Bu kitabın beni böyle alıp sarmasını hiç beklemiyordum. Hatta kitap resmen beni birden fazla kez şaşırttı. "When she looks back to the island she sees only the pines, drawn closed like a curtain

The book is great, the version I read has 3 short stroies and the atmosphere of all these is amazing, but the stories end literally as soon as they start. Just as you start enjoying them, then they just finish. I really wish the book had been a long, full length novel so I could have properly more enjoyed it.

Imagine a long conversation with a man who keeps you engrossed from the first word – that’s pretty much what this book is. That is both good and bad, frankly. The very conversational tone of this book can get annoying – at times I felt that I was being examined on the points – but the overwhelming effect of this book is that you are fascinated and enthralled, both by Dr Patten’s insights and courage and by the courage and resilience of his patients. That he comes from an age of medicine where the patient, rather than the cost, matters is evident from the start, and that he cares deeply is equally evident. I felt privileged to read his “adventures.” Neurology Rounds with the Maverick is one of the most informative and entertaining neurology books. Within these real life medical stories is a lot of personal wisdom and insight about how the way we treat sick people has changed. Some of them are mundane, yet still humorous to hear in Dr. Patten’s unique way of speaking. Some are genuine medical mysteries that would be difficult to diagnose even now, let alone in the “golden age of medicine” when Patten practiced. Prepare to be fascinated by all the ways brain damage and other neurological illness can affect human life, and take a look back at a simpler time in medicine. The tone of this excellent book is set by the author in a ‘general conversation with the reader’ – "I know I am from a bygone era, an era when life was quite different, an era that included what is now considered by doctors as the golden age of medicine. It was an interesting time for doctors because there were few administrators, the insurance companies did not interfere with medical practice, and, believe it or not, money was not a big issue. There was less technology so doctors relied on, had to rely

The May 2020 edition has just arrived and was read immediately:) Friends who love science fiction thriller, you should start this urgently when you run out of book.. Ugh, how to explain this book. First, let me clean the sand that escaped into my throat. The book is so realistic that you literally live what you read. I can say that I faced my claustorophobia in the first parts. I guess I held my breath while reading the book, or I tried to read it with little breath. The world is under the sands, and people who have built ruined towns on it are trying to live somehow. The most popular profession is 'Sand Diving', they dive 300-400 meters deep. You can estimate the pressure on you while reading. The plot is awesome. & It was my book to meet Hugh Howey. Author of the Silo series. The author's writing biography is also very dramatic. He can't publish his book, and he publishes it in the form of an e-book from amazon for a very small number. And of course, the book is published when it sees great interest from readers. This book is a 5-piece book published after the Silo series. The only book. Those who want to meet the author can start with this book. Monokl books were printed in the Silo series, it is still on sale, ithaki publications received the rights. I bought it from Monokl, I can't wait to start.
