He did not initially intend to become a neurosurgeon, but “strayed too close to a dangerously seductive profession and became stuck for good like a fly in a spider’s web.”
On his first day as a neurosurgical resident, a cynical and weary chief resident takes him aside and outlines the “Rules of Neurosurgery.” The first of these provides the title of the book: “You ain’t never the same when the air hits your brain.” A worrying proposition to those with no background knowledge, nevertheless this maxim pithily sums up the subtle, intangible change that often occurs after cranial surgery, but which cannot be neatly recorded on a chart. The other rules include such useful aphorisms as “the only minor operation is one that someone else is doing” and “if the patient isn’t dead you can always make them worse,” a contemporary variation on the Hippocratic motto: "primum non nocere."
Though lighthearted in tone, the book addresses serious points that are relevant to the practice of neurosurgery in particular and medicine in general. Bu hikâye, yoksulluğun içinden çıkıp gökyüzüne tutunmaya çalışan bir kızla başlıyor: Ren Monroe.
Ren, Kathor’un alt tabakasında büyümüş ama zekâsı ve azmi sayesinde Balmerick Akademisi’ne bursla girmiştir. Fakat bu akademide hayatta kalmak sadece çalışarak değil, şehirdeki beş büyük ailenin gözüne girerek mümkündür. Ren de tam dört yıldır bu görünmeyen savaşı vermektedir.

Bölge olarak Batman da yaşanan, ölüm ve yalnızlık kokan bir roman.Herkesin okuyabileceğini -kaldıramayacağı için- düşünmüyorum. Kitaba başlayıp birkaç sayfa ilerlediğinizde karakterlerin ve dilin büyüsüne kapılıp bırakamıyorsunuz. Bir mola verdiğinizde aklınız mektuplarda, günlükte ve gelen mesajlarda kalıyor. Yoksulluk, şiddet, çaresizlik, aşkla hayata tutunma çabaları ve bitmek bilmeyen iç sorgulamalar, o dönem bölgenin ve insanların içinde bulunduğu buhran okuyucuya ilmek ilmek işleniyor.
Üç farklı koldan ilerleyen olay örgüsü ve karakterlerin sonunda aynı hikayeye bağlanması ustaca yazılmış. Yazar 90'lı yılların son ve zor zamanlarını konu almış; Hizbullah, intiharlar… Kitap bittikten sonra da etkisinin devam ettiğini şu an bu incelemeyi yazmamdan anlayabilirsiniz.

It has been a long time since I gave something a %100. I spent the entire day reading this and there wasn't a single chapter that I got bored (a total of 110 chapters in this book). The art style, pacing, characters and their design, the plot, and the action...They are all perfect and I have nothing negative to say about it.
This is a Manhwa (Korean Manga) or a webcomic that is very similar to the God of High School. The main thing about the series is the action. The fight scenes are brilliant. However, the characters are very well-written and the plot itself is also interesting. In short, the series revolves around a Hunter named Sung Jin-Woo who is dubbed as the World's Weakest. However, he gets a unique power that allows him to level up and get stronger hence the name Solo Leveling. Apart from Jin-Woo, there are many memorable characters. The humor element is also there.
Since this book has 110 chapters (Season 1), it is impossible to talk about all of the events. However, as I mentioned before, I spent the entire day reading this because I simply could not leave. It is very addicting and I will probably catch up with the series (I believe there are 161 chapters right now). I definitely recommend this to everyone especially you are a fan of series like the God of High School, Overlord, Tensei Shitara and so forth.
