perfect read for autumn. here’s my hot take, i kinda prefer the script of the tv show when it comes to how it all ends. the symbolism in the book though.. it’s impeccable. i can also see some elements of french realism here. it’s a story of westernisation and generational conflict. the protagonist (Ali Riza Bey) is extremely unlikeable.
a must read for everyone (but especially for girls) regardless of age !!!! it’s a feel good book which is also thought-provoking and empowering. sex ed isn’t really a thing where i’m from and it’s lovely to see so many women picking this book up after someone recommended it on twitter.
Coming of age, loss of innocence and disillusionment with the world. A bit challenging to read, it’s slow and i actually wasn’t hooked until the climax (Tom’s trial).
