O kadar güzel ve içten söylermiş ki, siperleri yakın olan Anzak askerleri bile zevkle dinler, yüreklerinde hissederlermiş. Fakat bir gece söylenmemiş bu türkü. İkinci gece yine söylenmemiş. Anzak askerlerinin bile dikkatini çekmiş bu durum. Üçüncü gece de türküyü duyamayınca dayanamamışlar ve ertesi sabah, "O güzel sesli arkadaşınız neden üç gündür söylemiyor o türküyü?" diye bir kâğıda not yazarak taşa sarmışlar ve bizim sipere doğru atmışlar. Biraz sonra, aynı şekilde taşa sarılı bir kâğıt atılmış bizim askerler tarafından... Kâğıtta söyle yazılıymış:
"Üç gün önce şehit ettiniz de ondan.."

The Church of Rome reached a state of extreme tension in 1968, amid the sexual revolution taking place in Western culture, when Pope Paul issued his encyclical Humanae Vitae , condemning the use of artificial methods of contraception. He put his authority on the line, making his decision against the overwhelming majority of his birth control commission. The whole affair precipitated one of the most serious crises for papal authority since Luther. Gradually a strong body of opinion emerged critical of the pope for not acting in cooperation with the bishops in issuing his encyclical.
