1980'lerden bu yana egzersiz sloganı olarak kullanılan "ℕ𝕠 𝕡𝕒𝕚𝕟, 𝕟𝕠 𝕘𝕒𝕚𝕟." mottosunu sadece egzersizde değil aynı zamanda hayatta başarıyı yakalamak istiyorsanız her konuda bunu uygulayabilirsiniz. Yazar koşmaya başlamadan önce üniversiteden sonra caz bar tarzı bir yer işletmeye başlar. A fifteen-year-old boy. His mother left home when he was 3 years old and he was living together with his father. But the father was so busy with his own life and he was not aware of his son. One day he decided to escape from home. He prepared his bag, took some money from his father's valet.
He did not have any idea where to go. He did not have any plan. He just wanted to leave home and live alone in an unknown place, far away from all his relatives and friends. He did not only left home but he also left the school. He was studying at a middle school and he was to finish it because it was compulsory for anyone to finish at least middle school.
This story is an interesting affair for any teenager. Leaving home and school. Packing his suitcase putting some underwear and t-shirts. One hand in the pocket and the suitcase on the shoulder, sun glasses on the eyes... Money enough to live for a few days... Later... No problem... Solutions are to be explored... Experience is to be tested.
I want to travel now in the cells of his brain. What kind of expectations or which reason is to be handled as the key word of this travel desire... leaving all his life behind, for a new but an unknown life considering that on that time he was only fifteen years old. No mother. No brother and sister. Father, yes, but just a name, he was outside of this sight, busy with his job, not aware of his son, even he was at home or not he never thinks...
He generates his own wish to travel with his bag as a companion. Why? How does a human, a teenager feed his wishes for such a travel?

This is an unusual novel and not for everyone. A short (184 p) and intensely strange book by Nobel candidate Vesaas. Like nothing else I've ever read, I can't exactly say I enjoyed it, but I will never forget it, and as I read it I became increasingly aware of its literary 'credentials.' This would make a prime candidate as a set text for students, with its deceptively simple writing and short sentences containing a wealth of hidden meanings to be drawn out.
The main character, Siss, is an 11-year old schoolgirl in 1960s Norway. Siss is eleven years old and the most popular girl in her school. An only child, she is also the center of her parents' attention.
One day her feelings toward everyone around her change when a new girl named Unn joins Siss' class at school. A lonely girl by nature, Unn is ignored by everyone in the class, except Siss. The girls decide to meet at Unn's house after school on one darkening autumn evening and start on an electric friendship. Unn reveals to Siss that her mother died of an illness six months earlier and that even at eleven years old she does not know who her father is. And there is indeed something in Unn's background - "the other" - but neither Siss nor the reader ever finds out what. Murder? Child abuse? Unn has come to live with her quiet, distant aunt since her mother died of an illness. Her father is absent, though she has a photo of him. Unn can't talk easily, the conversation is stilted ... and just as it seems to be going somewhere, Siss makes a hasty retreat home....
Coping with these feelings swirling inside of her, Unn has yet to openly discuss her station in life with anyone, that is except for Siss. Despite being the leader of everyone at school, Siss is at heart lonely as well. It seems divinely ordained that the two

Jane Spring bir asker kızı annesi öldüğü için general midir nedir öyle bir baba tarafından asker gibi yetiştirilmiş. yani baba demek yerine efendim diyorlar öyle düşün. aslında tam bir asker olacak yerde babası tarafından orduya girilmesi izin verilmediği için avukat olmuş ama ne avukat..
ağzına gelen lafları şak diye söyleyen, kadın erkek farketmeden herkesin karşısında dimdik duran biraz yalnız ama en çok korkulan bir karakterdi. fakat herkes korktuğu için baya yalnız o kadar yalnız ki erkek arkadaş bulma konusunu kafasına dert etmiş öyle ki sevgili bulma konusuna adeta bir iş gibi yaklaşıyor kişiliğini değiştirmeyi deneyecek kadar! karakterimiz Doris Day adında bir film yıldızına çevirmeye çalışıyor kendini ki başarılıda oluyor fakat kitabın güzel bir anlatımı olmadığı için okuması resmen işkence hâline geliyor keşke keşke biraz daha güzel yazılsaydı.
bir de karakterin değişmemesini çok isterdim.o haliyle bulsaydı hayatının aşkını daha güzel olabilirdi.
