Hayata Dair
What is easier than dying in the Middle East? Waking up one morning with the sound of an explosion, not with a call to prayer. Putting fear in your bag instead of a book on the way to school. In a geography where what is called living is measured only by not breathing and not hearing the sound of a bomb, what could be easier than dying? Dying in the Middle East is free. But living is more expensive day by day. Not only with your life; you live by paying with your mind, heart, memory, past, faith, honor. As soon as a person is born here, he is considered to belong to one side. Sect, people, language, flag are automatically selected. If you object, you will either be a "traitor" or an "infidel." If you want to get rid of it, you throw yourself into the sea, but the waves drag you back to the shore: The coast is either poverty or forbidden or war again. If you have oil, you don't have freedom. If you believe, you have no peace. If the subject is Palestine, every street is an expert; but children are still throwing stones at tanks. If you are Syrian, you will either be a "terrorist" or a "burden". You are Iraq, you are Iran, you are Lebanon... what difference does it make?

Diyalektiksel okuma benim tercihim. Burada paylaştıklarım sizden bağımsız kendi alıntılarım ve notlarımdır. What I share does not necessarily mean that I agree. It is up to the individual to choose to believe or reject it. It is up to you to think about it or not. In addition, let me also state that what I read is not my belief in that subject, but I also read to understand the opposing ideas. Dialectical reading is my preference. What I share here are my own quotations and notes independent of you.

Finding true happiness is a complex subject when approached from a philosophical perspective. Throughout the history of philosophy, many thinkers have debated what happiness is and how it can be attained. Here are some philosophical thoughts aimed at understanding true happiness: 1. Aristotle's Concept of Happiness: According to Aristotle, happiness is one of the highest aims of humans, and it is achieved by living a virtuous life. For him, living a virtuous life involves pursuing virtues such as reason, moderation, and courage to develop moral excellence and fulfill our potential. 2. Epicurus' Pleasure Principle: Epicurus, the founder of Epicureanism, an ancient philosophical school that defined happiness around the principle of pleasure. According to him, happiness is attained through the highest and most continuous satisfaction of pleasures. However, Epicurus argues that these pleasures should be simple and natural, and they should be pursued with inner tranquility and serenity rather than insatiable craving. 3. Stoic Explanation: According to Stoic philosophy, happiness arises from one's inner state and is independent of external factors. Stoics view happiness as a process of rational acceptance and focusing on things that one can change by their own will. Stoics emphasize cultivating inner tranquility and moral virtues. 4. Utilitarianism and Happiness: Utilitarianism defines happiness as the greatest social utility. According to this philosophical approach, the rightness of an action is determined by its potential to maximize the overall happiness of society. Utilitarianism argues that we should perform ethical actions to increase the happiness of individuals. It is difficult to provide a definitive definition of true happiness from a philosophical
Orientalism in "Women of Algries"
Before analysing Delacroix's The Women of Algiers in their Apartment (1834) we should touch on a subject. Orientalism. This term generally depicts how Eastern societies cultures, languages etc. are examined. This term created by Western societies like it’s used to be. Western, created this term for pursuing their policy of dominating. According to West they are the stongest in every aspects such as; culture, language or anything else we can imagine and they use East for creating this superiority. When we look at Delacroix's painting, we see the depiction of Algerian women. Here the painter depicted women with their clothes, seductively looking and expressions where they lived. In fact, it would not be correct to say 'depicted' because depictions are not correct, it also shows how east women are more uncivilized than the west. Although the descriptions are correct, the aim mostly for presenting the east inferior rather than to portray it. In this case western produces the stereotype that non-European, which means that Orient is lazy, thoughtless, sexually immoral and mad. The West already has colonialism that can dominate the east but doing this directly physically will make the west notorious so there must be a reason to fill the back and at this point Orientalism comes into play says Edward Said. There are dozens of things that can be shown as an example of showing the east as bad. One of them is their religion. One of the biggest examples of the "terrorist", "barbarian" labeling of the Middle East, which is widely Muslim. or any TV series with an eastern theme, showing that the reason why the eastern people are extremely poor is lazy and not worked on time, as if the West never exploited them in time. Oryantalizm (Doğubilim) Edward Said
