the book that made me want to be a neuropyschologist for a good amount of time. the way Lisa found herself, her way to choose this very specific, untouched, large subject to research on and had her whole laboratory-from monkeys to humans- (not your usual science lab!) work on it is truly what i always wanted to do. even though i haven't fully grasped on the scientific terms when i first read it, it has changed my way of thinking a lot. it completely cleared the classic concept of 'emotions' from my mind and put something way more complicated instead of it. i struggle explaining people why emotions were made by people and that there aren't just 4 or 5 of them around. so this book is a nice standing point for me. ofc it's hard to put something that's pages long in a single paragraph, so im just gonna say i will read it once more, maybe adding up my experiences from med school, and maybe see if some of these researches are still scientifically valid. (since this book was written in 2017, i'm sure A LOT has changed!)

Zweig made me hate Edgar’s mom. I’m not trying to judge her,but you’re a conscious married woman with a child, what were you thinking of??? Furthermore, I’m assured, again, that children notice everything down to the details

Her Şeyi Bitirmeyi Düşünüyorum – Iain Reid “Gerçek mi, hayal mi, yoksa zihnin bize oynadığı bir oyun mu?” Iain Reid, “Her Şeyi Bitirmeyi Düşünüyorum” (I’m Thinking of Ending Things) romanında insan zihninin en karanlık odalarına kapı aralıyor. Her şey birbirine karışır. Reid’in dili yalın ama gerilim yüklüdür. Karla kaplı yollar, sessiz bir çiftlik evi, bir bodrumun karanlığı… Her sahne, zihinsel bir çöküşün simgesine dönüşür. Yazar, okuru sadece korkutmaz; aynı zamanda düşündürür, rahatsız eder, sorgulatır. Film Uyarlaması: Roman, 2020 yılında Charlie Kaufman tarafından Netflix için aynı adla (I’m Thinking of Ending Things) filme uyarlandı. Başrollerde

There's not much to say. This is genuinely a masterpiece for me. I don't wanna talk about the subject. Because it's quite complicated and i do not wanna confuse your brains. Just trust me and buy this awesome book and read as soon as you can. And at the moment I'm thinking that I should buy his different books. I'm curious about them much. I wanna mention about why I want to read that book in english. I was in the London few weeks ago and ı saw that book in the bookshop. I already knew that book in turkish and i was thinkiing about to read. When i saw the book i said i should buy this book, when i first bought this book, ı'm a bit confused about how i can read this book this book includes different and such meaningless words. İ finished the book a few minutes ago. İm saying that I'm thankful for reading this masterpiece. I'm sending my thanks to you for this great book Alex Michaelides

3.5 ️️️/5️ It started well but the middle 150 pages were the same… “i like him but i can’t tell him” “i love her but how can i tell her”… 150 pages of denying and trying to figure out how to the “fake relationship” thing go on.. When i First started i was thinking “i’m more of an enemies-to-lovers person, will i love my first non-fictionally friends-to-lover attempt? ”. And at the end I’ve closed the book with saying “i am definitely into an enemies-to-lovers trope ” It wasn’t too bad to read. And to be honest when i hold it to read it i couldn’t believe how long i can read this book. Bc all of a sudden it’s been 10 pages. So it was a fast reading and a fine one. But not the “i love it” one -1 point for 150 pages of same thing.. -0.5 point for lack of “DRAMA ” (There can be problematic ex’es, new crushes, old dirty secrets etc) And i must say i really like how it ended. It was real. Not everyone needs a full happy ending. every ending is not 100% perfect. Sometimes it is %80 perfect

Sir Philip Sidney, as a legendary figure in his own lifetime, was a courtier, soldier, statesman, amateur scholar, and poet. Also in his works we see Renaissence humanism. the Apology is really important for understanding synthesis of the Renaissence understanding of classical theory. Sidney adapted classical and medieval models while writing it. In 1579, Stephen Gosson, published an attack on theaters titled "The School of Abuse" and dedicated it to Sir Philip Sidney without any permission. Gosson was a puritan minister and puritans were really conservative in that times and that is the reason of his attacking. In the following year he published his defence titled "A Defence of Poetry." From my side it deserves 7/10 but im only poor literature student don't take it serious... The book basically consist of 3 parts. The first part defends how goergous poetry is and show its superiority comparing it with History and Philosophy because it combines the moral precepts with one another. In second part he deals with spesific objections raised against poetry. Especially "Poet is a liar." from Stephen Gosson. Gosson feeds his words by mentioning Plato's Republic implying that he was also thinking that poetry is dangerous and poet is a liar. He says that's not true. In Plato's republic, he defends that art forms need to be controlled by government and if there is nothing wrong with it, then it can be publish. Another defence is he used Boccacio's "Poet never acclaim truth therefore he never lies." and he says even good philosophers uses the mask of poetry while making philosophy. In terms of their superiority he says philosophers can only be understood by whom knows the terms but poetry can be read by everyone. It's superiority for history, for example, comes from poetry's
