Far from the Madding Crowd was more than a love story for me. It is about love, pride and how our choices. I enjoyed the life book and Bathsheba. Also seeing how her relationships changed over time.
I loved the countryside setting and the quiet atmosphere of the book. The story moves slowly but it fits the mood I believe. As some characters frustrated me this also made them feel more real.
Compared to Pride and Prejudice, which I enjoyed more, Hardy's novel felt more serious. It lacks Austen's lively conversations, but both books are those days' NETFLIX dramas.
Not every chapter worked for me, but the book left me a calm and beautiful sense of life. The life I really admire to have.
Tristana starts like a love story, but it’s really about a young woman who wants to live her own life. Tristana lives with Don Lope, an older man who takes care of her, but over time she begins to feel trapped and wants independence.
The book doesn’t rely on big events. It focuses more on relationships, choices, and emotions. None of the characters are completely good or bad, which makes the story feel more realistic.
It’s a short and easy read. Calm, simple and a quiet story about freedom, growing up, and finding your own path.
Muhteşem bir kitap, muhteşem bir film.1000k
Harika bir kitap bitirdim bugün. Kısa bir kitap olmasına rağmen, kalpte bıraktığı devasa etki ile çok özel bir eser. Çok ama çok etkilendim. Kısa, sade, abartısız ama derin duygu yüklü anlatımı ile kitabın içinde buldum kendimi.
Sinema uyarlaması The Quiet Girl - Sessiz Kız.. Ben önce filmi seyrettim, bu kez böyle yaptığıma hiç pişman olmadım. Sinema uyarlaması olan kitaplar da , kitaptakinden farklılıklar yaşanıyor diye önce kitap sonra film derdim. Ama burada muhteşem bir film de seyrediyoruz. O kadar güzel işlenmiş ki.

Definitely it's a one sitting read book, but also the kind of book you want to take slowly and absorb the poems.
After the somewhat predictable nature of my previous read, Pick a Color was a refreshing change of pace. Souvankham Thammavongsa has a remarkable gift for capturing the profound within the mundane. The story explores the quiet rhythms of daily life with a precision that feels both concise and compelling.
What I appreciated most was the minimalist style. The author doesn't rely on "filler columns" or elaborate plots; instead, she uses brief, impactful moments to deliver her message. The narrative is filled with poignant quotes that I found myself lingering over—lines that manage to say so much with very few words.
It is a beautiful example of how a "short" story can leave a lasting impression. Much like a perfectly centered piece of pottery, there is nothing extra here; every sentence has a purpose. For any reader who enjoys observational literature, this story is a small but vibrant gem.

1980’lerde İrlanda kırsalında geçen bu hikâyede, kalabalık ve yoksul bir ailenin küçük kızının, annesinin memleketinde yaşayan Kinsella ailesine bir süreliğine emanet edilişini okuyoruz. Sanki bir teyze evine gönderilmiş gibi ama aslında bambaşka bir dünyaya adım atıyor.
Geldiği yerde sevgi ne demek, değer görmek ne demek, bir şeyleri paylaşmak ne demek hepsini ilk kez hissediyor. En sıradan şeyler bile sevgiyle yapıldığında bambaşka bir anlam kazanıyor.
Kitabın en vurucu ve en etkileyici yeri sonuydu. Vedanın o sessiz ama yoğun ağırlığı. Kitap boyunca biriken her şey o kısa finalde insanın içine bir anda çöküyor.
Bu hikâyede dikkatimi çeken bir diğer şey de kızın isminin hiç geçmemesiydi. Normalde bu tarz anlatımları sevmem ama burada o eksiklik bile anlamlıydı. Sanki herkes olabilecek bir çocuğun hikâyesini okuyormuş gibi.
Kısa ama etkisi uzun süren, okuyan herkesin finalinde bir şeyler hissedeceğini düşündüğüm bir kitaptı.
Bu naif hikaye 2022 yılında The Quiet Girl (Sessiz Kız) adıyla sinemaya da uyarlanmış. Hatta Oscar adaylığı bile olan bu film, kitaptaki o saf ve duygusal atmosferi ekrana muazzam bir görsellikle taşıyor. Okuduktan sonra izlemenizi de kesinlikle öneririm.
