Weavers of Earth

When the smoke rises from the ruins of your comfort, the horizon is no longer a place you are trying to reach. it is the fire burning within your own chest.
Even if the fog is impenetrable, even if the ground feels like shadows, you walk. You walk because staying on the shore has become a slow betrayal of your own existence.
You surrender the "how" and the "when" to the infinite, keeping only the "yes" in your heart.
This is the sacred vow: I choose the path even if I never see the end. I choose the call because it is the only truth I have left
The Scream (Çığlık), Norveçli ressam Edvard Munch tarafından ilk kez 1893 yılında yapılmış, modern sanatın en çarpıcı ve en rahatsız edici eserlerinden biridir. Tablo, köprü üzerinde duran ve elleriyle yüzünü tutarak çığlık atan bir figürü gösterir; ancak bu çığlık yalnızca o figüre ait değildir. Arka plandaki gökyüzü bile dalgalanır, kıvrılır, sanki doğa da aynı çığlığı atıyormuş gibidir. Bu yüzden tablo sadece bir insanın korkusunu değil, tüm evrenin içsel huzursuzluğunu yansıtır.
Munch bu eseri, kendi yaşadığı derin bir ruhsal anın etkisiyle yapmıştır. Günlüğünde anlattığına göre bir gün yürürken gökyüzü bir anda kan kırmızısına dönmüş ve o, doğanın içinden yükselen “sonsuz bir çığlık” hissetmiştir. İşte bu tablo, o anın görselleştirilmiş hâlidir. Bu nedenle eser, dış dünyayı olduğu gibi resmetmekten çok, sanatçının iç dünyasını, kaygılarını ve varoluşsal korkularını dışa vurur.
Tablodaki figürün cinsiyetsiz, neredeyse iskeletimsi ve soyut olması da bilinçlidir; çünkü bu figür belirli bir kişiyi değil, insanın evrensel yalnızlığını ve korkusunu temsil eder. Perspektifin bozulmuş olması, renklerin doğal olmaktan çıkıp yoğun ve çarpıcı hâle gelmesi de izleyicide bir rahatsızlık hissi yaratmak içindir.
Bu eser, sanat tarihinde ekspresyonizmin (Expressionism) en önemli örneklerinden biri kabul edilir. Çünkü burada amaç gerçeği aynen göstermek değil, gerçeğin insanda yarattığı duyguyuözellikle korku, kaygı ve yalnızlığı en saf ve güçlü hâliyle ifade etmektir. Bu yönüyle The Scream, modern insanın içsel krizini ve varoluşsal sıkışmışlığını anlatan zamansız bir çığlıktır.
