Geçenlerde Margot Robbie 'nin filmi çıkacağını görünce tekrar okuyup tazelemek istedim. Bronte kardeşlerin aşığı olarak kitabı bir çırpıda bitirdim. Heathcliff çıldırttı beni ama. Toxicliği de geçtim, kötü bir karakter. Her karakterde aslında büyük hatalar var. Ama kitapta gerçekliklerin olmasının büyük bir nedeni de bu karakterler. Tam bir baş yapıt.
Reading witcher in english is fascinating. Even though its translated directly from Polish, English sometimes flattens the raw, gritty Slavic wit, but the dark atmosphere still punches through. I love how this book tears down pretty fairy tales. It shows a magical world ruined by ugly human realities such as injustice, racism, and violence. It proves that no matter the universe, human nature always brings the same disgusting problems. Since I’ve played all the games, I didn't have to build this world from scratch. I felt like I was returning home, totally immersed from page one. Plus, every character is so distinct you instantly adopt them. Dandelion, especially, is brilliant, his dramatic bard energy perfectly balances the grim reality. The core of the book for me is Geralt. He acts like a heartless mutant who only kills for coin, forcing himself to believe he has no feelings because society expects him to be cold. But underneath, he is incredibly soft hearted. I related to him deeply. People often call me emotionless too. But I know how much I actually care. When it matters, sometimes I act way more thoughtful and genuinely considerate than the people who constantly brag about how sensitive they are. Like Geralt, being guarded doesn't mean you don't feel. Some dislike that this is just a collection of scattered short stories, but I think it’s the perfect, low pressure gateway into the universe. It’s a fun, easy read that makes you feel both the darkness of the world and the hidden warmth of its hero.

This book takes place in imaginary town in Maycomb, Alabama. The book portrayes the racial injustice in 1930s through an African American man, Tom Robinson. The book represents the universe of obligation and shows the social hierarchy. The protagonist, Scout faces criticism by her aunt because she doesn't fit the gender roles during that time. This book shows that how children can't process the reality. It's a great book where sometimes because of bias your innocence doesn't count. I recommend everyone reading this book since it's really touching.

In Amis’s famous novel, London Fields, the witty language is used and highlighted in the book repatedly. With the use of wit and pan (word play) Amis creates one of the most intelligent written novel ‘London Fields’. These uses of high elevated language and word plays also gives us the hints of postmodern fiction. As the novel is considered one of the best novel representing postmodernism, one can appreciate it due to the style that the novel is written, by means of wit and language. To give examples from the book;
-It was fixed. It was written. The murderer was not the murderer. But the murderee had always been a murderee.
The quote from Samson Young foreshadows that the real murderer is not the one we think, it will change. However the murderee ‘Nicola’ will always be the victim, not be affected by the inconstant murderer.
- I know what his poetry will be about. What poetry is always about. The cruelty of the poet’s mistress.
In this quote we can also sense the metaphor that is made to Nicola. Here Samson , as a writer, claims that the poets are writing poetry due to the relationship between their mistresses. It is known that Young also writes a novel about Nicola, creating the same plot with the poets he criticizes.

Başlarda o kadar bayağı ve klişeydi ki ilk sayfaları okumam uzun zaman aldı. Sonrasında hikaye akmaya, aşağılık kompleksli ana karakterimiz sadece kendi acizliği ve perilerin yüceliği üzerinde düşünmemeye başlayınca daha okunası oldu.
Hep kendini perilerin gözünden değerlendiren, değer kazanabilmek hatta kendini değerli görebilmek için ben neler çektim, zorundaydım gibi saçmalıklar sayan bir karakter. Ve ben bunun yazarın taraflı kaleminden kaynaklı olduğunu düşünüyorum (tıpkı Alacakaranlık serisinde sürekli vampir yüceleştirilmesi gibi). Annesinin 8 yaşındayken omzuna yüklediği koca bir sorumluluk altında ezilirken bir kere bile bu saçma sorumluluğa isyan etmemiş olması dümdüz salaklık çünkü ailesiyle olan toksik ilişkinin sürmesi için onlardan gelen bir manipülatif güzelleme, el üstünde tutuyor gibi rol yapma çabası bile yok. Dümdüz Feyre'nin emekleriyle yaşayıp hiç tatmin olmayan parazitler ama nedense Feyre onları çok seviyor. Feyre'nin ailesiyle olan ilişkisi kül kedisi masalı gibi. Yazar burada bir sevgi ya da manipülasyon bağı kursa 10 senelik sözden daha mantıklı bir açıklama olurmuş.
Evren belki iyi kurgulanmıştır, emin değilim ama Feyre'nin cahilliğiyle bu evreni keşfetmek zorunda olmamız çok normal. Çünkü evren anlatmanın en kolay ve doğal gösterilen yollarından biri ana karakterle birlikte keşfetmektir (ör: hp universe). O yüzden evren kurgusu şöyle saçma böyle saçma demeyeceğim sonuçta bir seri ve keşfettikçe ortaya çıkacak ne kadar iyi olduğu. Ama gayet iyi bir DnD evreni gibi görünüyor.
Karakterlerin psikolojik derinliğini görebilsek benim için için çok daha keyifli olurdu ama bu da bir yazım tercihi ve fantastik edebiyat yazarının bunu yapmasına gerek yok.

Bazı kitaplar vardır, bir kere okumak asla yetmez. Ben normalde bir kitabı ikinci kez okumayı pek sevmem ama Aristo ve Dante benim için o nadir istisnalardan. İkinci kez okudum ve bitirdiğim anda tekrar başa dönme isteği geldi. O kadar güzel, o kadar saf bir aşk hikâyesi ki insanı sessizce sarıp sarmalıyor. En sevdiğim taraflardan biri de Aristo karakteriyle kurduğum bağ oldu. Kendimi ona inanılmaz yakın hissediyorum. Okurken “ben de böyleyim” dediğim, kendimden kocaman bir parça bulduğum bir karakter. Her sayfada biraz daha kendimi gördüm diyebilirim. Hikâye, 1987 yazında geçiyor. Yaz tatilinde yolları kesişen Aristo ve Dante’nin arkadaşlıktan aşka evrilen hikâyesini okuyoruz. Aristo içine kapanık, melankolik, kendisiyle pek barışık olmayan 15 yaşında yalnız bir çocuk. Pek arkadaşı yok, ailesi iyi olsa da babasının onu yeterince sevmediğini düşünüyor. Bir de ailesinin konuşmaktan özellikle kaçındığı, hapiste olan bir abisi var. Bu sessizlik Aristo’nun iç dünyasında büyük bir boşluk yaratıyor. Dante ise Aristo’nun tam tersi. Hayat dolu, sorgulayan, insanlarla hemen bağ kurabilen ve ailesiyle oldukça iyi bir ilişkisi olan bir çocuk. Aristo’nun yazın gittiği bir havuzda tanışıyorlar; Dante, Aristo’ya yüzme öğretirken aralarında yavaş yavaş çok özel bir bağ oluşuyor.Aslında Aristo ve Dante, hepimizin geçtiği o karmaşık ergenlik dönemini yaşıyor.
