I really enjoyed reading this book. At first, I thought it might be difficult because it was written a long time ago, but the story became more interesting as I continued reading.
One of the things I liked most about the book was the adventure and action. The characters travel through dangerous forests, face many challenges, and have to make difficult decisions. This kept me interested and made me want to know what would happen next. But the most interesting thing was to think that all this cruelty and madness actually happened. It is blood-curling and saddening to think that the massacre scene at the battlefield or what that savage did to that baby by the rock really happened in real life.
I also liked how the friendship between the characters was shown throughout the story. The novel explores themes such as courage, loyalty, friendship, and survival. It gives readers a glimpse into a different period of history. It helped me imagine what life was like during the conflicts between different groups in North America. And I also wished I could have crazy natural survival skills, tracking skills and enhanced vision or hearing like the mohicans who dwell in the forests. Imagining living like them makes my sedentary city-dwelling life seem much more duller than normal.
A Critical Review of Humankind
Rutger Bregman’s book Humankind is one of the books that questions negative ideas about human nature and makes readers think. For many years, many people believed that humans are naturally selfish, bad, and only care about themselves. However, Bregman does not agree with this idea. According to him, human nature is not as dark as people think. Instead, people are more willing to help each other, understand others’ feelings, and do good things. In the book, the author supports these ideas with many examples from wars, psychology experiments, history, and biology. One of the best parts of the book is that it gives hope about humanity. Still, when I finished the book, I did not only feel admiration. On one side, I was happy to read it because it made me think differently. On the other side, some of the author’s ideas felt too optimistic to me. Because of this, the book was both interesting and questionable for me.
One of the strongest parts of the book is that it makes people question ideas about human nature that many accept without thinking. Today, we often see violence, murder, wars, and fights on television, social media, and in the news. After some time, people start to believe that the world is full of bad people. At this point, Bregman asks an important question: If humans were really bad by nature, how could societies survive for so many years? A big part of human history was shaped by helping each other, working together, and surviving together. From this side, the writer’s ideas are important and meaningful.

Bu kitabı okurken yalnızca bir hikâyeye tanıklık etmedim; konuşamadığında, hareket edemediğinde, kendini anlatamadığında insanın zihninde nasıl sonsuz bir evren taşıyabildiğini gördüm. Bedenin sınırlandığı yerde düşüncelerin nasıl özgürleştiğini, sesini duyuramayan bir insanın iç dünyasında ne kadar büyük fırtınalar kopabileceğini hissettim.

Bir cümleyi rahatça kurabilmek, öfkemizi dile getirebilmek, sofraya oturup kendi başımıza yemek yiyebilmek, hatta dert edinebilmek bile aslında görünmez birer nimetmiş. Kitabı okurken insan, sahip olduğu sıradan şeylerin bile ne kadar kıymetli olduğunu fark ediyor. Çünkü bazen “normal” olmak, dünyadaki en büyük zenginlik hâline gelebiliyor.
İçimdeki Müzik, okuduğum andan itibaren zihnimde sahne sahne canlanan, her satırında empati duygusunu daha derinden hissettiren bir eser oldu. Karakterlerin her biriyle ayrı bir bağ kurdum; onların kırgınlıklarını, umutlarını ve sessizliklerini içimde taşıdım. Kitap bittiğinde ise geriye yalnızca bir hikâye değil, insan olmaya dair daha derin bir farkındalık kaldı.

Aimé Césaire is a Martinican poet and a politician whose express himself in French with Negro characteristics. He does things with words beyond my imagination. A true preacher of Black people. Very strong and decisive. We as Kurds, have a lot to learn from Black struggle. A colonized land means colonized minds also. We have to decolonize our minds first. We have to stop the alienation.
A must read.
This was freaking hard to read man. Should've gone with the tr translation but I just didn't want to. Just a reminder to myself: never EVER read books in translation if it's not originally English written...
Sanırım hayatımda bu kadar detaylı yazılmış bir İngilizce kitap okuduğumu söyleyemem. Bir noktadan sonra bu kitabın iyi çevrilmiş bir Türkçe versiyonunu okumayı gerçekten çok isterdim, ama sanırım böyle bir çevirisi yok — ya da en azından ben denk gelmedim. Bu kitabı okurken bir an bile küçük bir detayı kaçırırsanız, ne okuduğunuzu unutabiliyorsunuz. Çünkü hiçbir şey göründüğü gibi değil. Her şey düşüncelerden ibaret ve düşünceler her şey olabilir, değil mi? Mutlu bir şarkı sizi iyileştirebilir ya da hüzünlü bir şarkı kırık parçalarınızı onarmanıza yardımcı olabilir.
Okurken hikâyenin nereye varacağını çok merak ettim ve tahmin ettiğim gibi hiç olmadı. Hatta sonu beni gerçekten şaşırttı. Kafamın karıştığı çok fazla yer oldu. Ana diliniz dışında bir dilde kitap okumanın zorluklarından biri de bu sanırım. Ama Raya ve Q’yu karakter olarak gerçekten çok sevdim. Hâlâ sonundan emin değilim. Gerçek miydi, hayal miydi? Mutlu oldular mı? Birbirlerine kavuştular mı? Bence yazar bana bir açıklama borçlu.
İlk başta treni çok sevmiştim ama trenin sırları ortaya çıktıkça, Raya gibi ben de aslında böyle bir trende olmak istemediğimi fark ettim. Ama eğer bir gün denk gelirseniz, bence okuyun. Çünkü sizi oldukça ilginç bir yolculuk bekliyor olacak.

I don’t think I’ve ever read an English book written with this much detail before. At some point, I really wished I could read a well-translated Turkish version of this book, but I don’t think one exists — or at least I’ve never come across it. It is easy reading book. I had finished it just in 2 days. Characters is not best but olsa not too bad. If you want something easy and cheerful you can read it. Enjoyed.
