I. INTRODUCTION: THE PURPOSE OF THE NOVEL Tess of the d’Urbervilles is Thomas Hardy’s most powerful and controversial novel, written as a direct challenge to Victorian moral, religious, and sexual values. Through the life of Tess Durbeyfield, a poor rural woman, Hardy exposes the cruelty of a society that equates female worth with sexual “purity,” excuses male transgression, and disguises injustice as moral order. Hardy does not present Tess as a fallen woman seeking redemption. Instead, he presents her as morally pure from beginning to end, and argues that the true corruption lies not in Tess, but in the social systems that destroy her. II. DETAILED SUMMARY (WITH SPOILERS) 1. Origins and the Weight of Ancestry Tess Durbeyfield is the eldest daughter of a poor rural family in Wessex. Her life changes when her father learns that they may be descended from the ancient aristocratic d’Urberville family. This discovery fills her parents with ambition and false hope, while Tess herself feels unease rather than pride. When Tess accidentally causes the death of the family’s horse, Prince—their sole means of livelihood—she feels intense guilt and responsibility. This event, driven by chance rather than moral fault, sets the tragic pattern of her life: random misfortune followed by self-blame. To help her family recover financially, Tess is sent to seek help from the wealthy d’Urbervilles—unaware that they are not true aristocrats, but merely have purchased the name. 2. Alec d’Urberville and Sexual Violation At Trantridge, Tess meets Alec d’Urberville, a manipulative and predatory man who immediately fixates on her. Despite Tess’s repeated resistance and discomfort, Alec pursues her relentlessly. The pivotal event of the novel occurs when Alec sexually violates Tess in

The story in which the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson started, with a puzzling and above their grade murder for The Scotland Yard. The detectives of the force, Lestrade and Gregson, goes to Sherlock Holmes for the case and the story begins. Before all that, John Watson starts his own story in his own terms with a background of his own life and we all read the cases from his view as most of you know. At first, Doctor Watson's opinion of Sherlock Holmes lies solely upon watching what he does and where he goes out of curiousity -until the case presented itself and Holmes brought Watson with him. As for the case, it looked rather plain but also a head-scratcher but it doesn't give you all that time to wonder about. While the things happens fast and it really looks like an ongoing investigation, on the bring of its edge we're thrown into the perpetrators and the victims backgrounds as if it's a completely different story. I would rather read everything from the eyes of Watson through the antagonist's confession. Other than those, I love how Holmes explained his thought process to Watson step by step. And by reading them, I did think to myself that it wasn’t so complicated to figure out. Well, BBC' Sherlock Holmes would've called me an idiot and took an interest on how would it feel to live in my smooth brain with no folds. But the original Holmes looks cool enough, so I will be sticking with him for the rest of his cases. Hope to read more, and hope you like it if you read it.

> "It was the power of religious influence, not alone, but more than anything else, which created the differences of which we are conscious to-day” Max Weber saw reformation as a new form of religion control, not elimination of Church’s ones. His aim focused on finding intimate relationship between asceticism and capitalism. He emphasized that commercial and social interests determine opinions and altitudes of people. In today's world, person should make adapted his manner of life to conditions of capitalistic success. “The capitalistic economy of the present day is an immense cosmos into which the individual is born, and which presents itself to him, at least as an individual, as an unalterable order of things in which he must live” As he said: “Spirit of capitalism might be understandable, as has been said, purely as a result of adaptation” For to discover ideal type of person who owns spirit of capitalism use Franklin. For providing this, Human must be able to cover some characteristics. Such as: cool self-control and frugality which enormously increase performance, being free from continual calculations of how the customary wage may be earned with a maximum of comfort and a minimum of exertion To achieve its goal(increasing the productivity of human labor by increasing its intensity), modern capitalism was faced traditional worker’s character who did not ask how much can I earn in a day if I do as much work as possible? but how much must I work in order to earn the wage for take care of my traditional needs?” And even to describe ideal type of

"I don't really understand 'Les Fleur Du Mal'.. I was just... intoxicated by the act of reading it!" This hits home really hard. Even though the way of telling the story through middle schoolers is not something I like a lot, the themes and message is very relateable. Although, perhaps middle-schoolers is not a bad choice. I can see how someone just hitting puberty fits the required characterization. By the way, "Saeki-san, I've always had this one-sided love for her... She was my muse, ans I worshipped her like an angel... I wanted her to remain as an angel forever... I didn't want to face the actual person..." this line, this confession to his self is my favorite thing so far. It made me remember an old film named "Time to Love" (Sevmek Zamanı) by Metin Erksan and also a song by Massive Attack called "Spoils" which both deal with the same thing: The act of loving someone or something you idealised and idolized in your mind rather than the actual thing or person. I feel like Aku no Hana could be the Japanese equivalent of these, but I have a feeling it will diverse in the next volumes and not focus on that aspect, which would be a shame because it lays down the perfect frame for a story like that if it just continues on this path. But my guess is it'll focus more on the flowers of evil and inner darkness and emotions rather than that. Nevertheless, I like this manga.

Thank you, next…
