He does not
He leaned back and crossed his arms. His smile disappeared. “What happened?” “Couldn’t concentrate,” she said. Got scared. Held off. Did everything you told me not to do. Altan looked faintly puzzled, and more than a little disappointed. “I’m sorry,” she said in a small voice. “No, it’s my fault.” His voice was carefully neutral. “I threw you into combat before you were ready. At the Night Castle, you would have trained for months before we put you in the field.” This was meant to make her feel better, but Rin only felt ashamed. “I couldn’t clear my mind,” she said. “Then don’t,” Altan said. “Open-minded meditation is for monks. It only gets you to the Pantheon, it doesn’t bring the god back down with you. You don’t need to open your mind to all sixty-four deities. You only need our god. You only need the fire.” “But Jiang said that was dangerous.” Though Rin thought she saw a spasm of impatience flicker across Altan’s face, his tone remained carefully neutral. “Because Jiang feared, and so he held you back. Were you acting under his orders when you called the Phoenix at Sinegard?” “No,” she admitted, “but—” “Have you ever successfully called a god under Jiang’s instruction? Did Jiang even teach you how? I’ll bet he did the opposite. I’ll bet he wanted you to shut them out.” “He was trying to protect me,” she protested, though she wasn’t sure why. After all, it was precisely what had frustrated her about Jiang. But somehow, after what she’d done at Sinegard, Jiang’s caution made more sense. “He warned that I might . . . that the consequences . . .” “Great danger is always associated with great power. The difference between the great and the mediocre is that the great are willing to take

Prussian education was noted and admired abroad not just for its effectiveness and near-universality of access, but also for the liberal tone of its institutions. Liberal visitors from Britain frequently expressed their surprise that such a ‘despotic’ political arrangement should have produced such a progressive and open-minded educational system.

Fall or Fly
“Goldfinch, can you hear me?” he asks gently. My head cocks, though I don’t answer. Gold weighs down my bones and slouches my shoulders as I struggle to take in a full breath. The male steps forward, an inky black form against the shine I’ve wrought. “Auren, you can let go now.” My brow furrows. Let go? I don’t want to let go. I want to continue to rage. I want to take my gold that was stolen from me, and punish everyone in my path. I want to be the monster that’s been held back for far too long. The male takes another step, and my beast screeches at him, though he doesn’t seem deterred. He should be running away from us, should be terrified like everyone else, but instead, he keeps coming, closer and closer, until he stands just a foot away. “You need to let go, baby. You’re draining yourself.” My mouth drops into a frown. “Draining?” Eyes so dark green they look black are locked on my face, caressing over my own gaze. “Yes,” he says quietly. “You need to drop the magic before you hurt yourself.” My back bristles. “My gold won’t hurt me.” “It already is.” He tips his head, and I look down, though I don’t see anything amiss. “Your aura is fading,” he tells me. “You can’t see it, but I can. I need you to breathe and let go of your power.” Panic surges up in me. If I let go of my power, I’ll be weak again. Helpless. Fury sparks in my eyes, and the gold flexes behind me

If you change your thinking, you can change almost anything else. You step into your observer self and become neutral and open-minded. If only for a second, you become an observer watching a movie of your life. You learn to simply notice whatever moods, thoughts, and behaviors are going on, without adding any layers of interpretation or judgment. This sets the stage for change. It's very different from being so immersed in the situation that you can't imagine there could be any other possibility than the way it is. Düşüncenizi değiştirirseniz, neredeyse her şeyi değiştirebilirsiniz.

We can expect further dramatic advances in the sciences during this century. Many questions that now perplex us will be answered, and new questions will be posed that we can’t even conceive today. We should nonetheless be open-minded about the possibility that despite all our efforts, some fundamental truths about nature could be too complex for unaided human brains to fully grasp. Indeed, perhaps we’ll never understand the mystery of these brains themselves—how atoms can assemble into ‘grey matter’ that can become aware of itself and ponder its origins. Or perhaps any universe complicated enough to have allowed our emergence is for just that reason too complicated for our minds to understand. Whether the long-range future lies with organic posthumans or with intelligent machines is a matter for debate. But we would be too anthropocentric if we believed that a full understanding of physical reality is within humanity’s grasp, and that no enigmas will remain to challenge our posthuman descendants.
To be actively open-minded is to actively search for information that contradicts your preexisting hypotheses. ¢---⋆Σ Aktif olarak açık fikirli olmak, önceden var olan hipotezlerinizle çelişen bilgileri aktif olarak aramaktır.
