The Lontano, by Jean-Christophe Grangé is a must read.
This is my first book and I couldn't write my review directly after reading this book; I felt like putting my ideas properly at their place, and thinking about them before giving my opinion. Because I couldn't find any word defining my feelings once I reached the end.
Lontano is a solid, tough and atmospheric detective thriller, intertwined with a family history without positive characters, filled with ritual murders, and constantly transferring the reader from France to Africa and back.
There are authors who never make me feel bored. Jean-Christophe Grangé, as always, remains himself: eerie and sick ways of murder and charismatic characters. And in Lontano when you think that everything was explained to you, it turns out that everything is wrong. Only Grangé can confuse and at the same time impress the reader in such a way!
The end remained partially open, with a hint that not all the secrets of the Morvano clan are revealed. The next book is Congo Requiem to find the answers. I have read Lontano in one breath. And it was worth it.
Highly recommended
