adolf eichmann'ın latin amerika'da yakalanıp israil'e getirilmesi ve yargılanmasını konu ediyor. giriş ve sonuç kısmı çok açık iken ortalarda pek çok yerde kayboldum sanırım. ama filmlerde yüzlerce kez izlediğimiz 40lı yılların hikayesini detaylarıyla okumak başka bir şeydi.
bir hukukçunun okumasının gayet faydalı ve işe yarar olduğunu düşünüyorum. çok karmaşık ve uzun bir dosyanın incelenmesi gibi bir şey.
yazar söylemek istediklerini çok açık ve net bir şekilde dile getiriyor. kesinlikle çok net. ancak çok objektif baktığı izlenimi vermek istese de konunun hassasiyeti bakımından bunu başaramaması büyük bir eksiklik olarak görülmeyecektir.

Excellent work from Hannah Arendt. In this book, (which is a shorter version of the real book) we see the trial of Adolf Eichmann who is thought to be the "architect of the holocaust". Arendt believes that analyzing this trial is crucial, since the crime was committed once, and is likely to happen again any time in the future. Arendt, a political scientist, and a philosopher emphasizes the term that she concluded as "banality of evil". In this term, she argues that the banality, ordinarity of the criminal is what makes him/her dangerous. She also points out how a totalitarian regime (in this case, the Nazi regime) affects society and makes "banal" and ordinary people become criminals. Moreover, she criticizes the prosecutors since they judge Eichmann as the mastermind of the plan. She thinks that Eichmann did not do evil plans, his crime was thoughtlessness, that is the inability to think of somebody else's point of view. She also thinks that the prosecutors' being Jewish make the trial unjust since it no longer will be a trial, but an act of revenge. Furthermore, she thinks that this crime was against all humanity. There are much more things to cover in this book. If you have a chance, I recommend you to read it.
The book I'm going to talk about today is a work that I believe you will all be impressed with. Auschwitz-Birkenau is the site of the largest mass murder in human history. In Auschwitz, Laurence Rees reveals new insights from more than 100 original interviews with Auschwitz survivors and Nazi perpetrators who speak on the record for the first time. Rees examines the strategic decisions that led the Nazi leadership to prescribe Auschwitz as its primary site for the extinction of Europe's Jews—their "Final Solution." Many people think they know the story of Auschwitz and Final Solution. It's the place where Jews were murdered. End of story.
You can also find information about Auschwitz commanders and their killing methods in the book. For example; Rudolf Höss. Höss was the longest-serving commandant of Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. He tested and implemented means to accelerate Hitler's order to systematically exterminate the Jewish population of Nazi-occupied Europe, known as the Final Solution.
According to the memoirs of Rudolf Höss, Adolf Eichmann suggested using "showers of carbon monoxide while bathing, as was done with mental patients in some places in the Reich." Instead of leading to water, the showerheads were connected to canisters of carbon monoxide. You can also read about; Zyklon B, massive gas chambers, crematoria and hell vans.
If you want to read about Auschwitz and the Holocaust, I highly recommend the book. I believe everyone should read this book and that we never forget the 1.1 million lives lost at Auschwitz.
