In my opinion it's a perfect novel. The American early life, racism and slavery were described widely.Mark Twain criticized the slavery in that period 'cause the nobles defended the equality. In fact, Mark Twain reviewed the inequality in equality.

I've seen Paths of Gloryat least a dozen times. It's one of Mr. Kubrick's finest. Much better than the Shining and Barry Lyndon, in my opinion, but of course he was much younger when he made it.

5/5 Stars (%88/100) I've read the Turkish edition before and absolutely loved it. I believe it was my first book by Zelazny. Now that I'm reading it in the original language and that I know Zelazny's style, I can appreciate it even more. I admit it is still not as good as Lord of Light but man that book is phenomenal. This Immortal revolves around a mysterious named man Conrad Nomikos who has an interesting past he rather not talk about and he is apparently the Art Commissioner of Earth. An alien comes to Earth and Conrad is his guide. However, everything changes when someone tries to assassinate the alien and Conrad saves him. Conrad's character is brilliant in my opinion. Zelazny himself also admits that he is like a prototype for Sam from Lord of Light meaning he is both supernatural and well ordinary. The identity of Conrad is an ambiguity in the book. He might Great God Pan or a kallikantzaros (a type of goblin) or none of them or both, we don't know and that's the beauty of it. There are a lot of things going on in the story but you can't help but wonder about Conrad's true identity. The ending of the book is also brilliant. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone.

3/5 Stars (%65/100) First of all, I got a copy for free for Kindle. I am so not used to reading e-books so it took me a long time to finish the book. I quite enjoyed the book overall. The cover of the book and title was really interesting and I did not realize it was part of a series. There are many cliche fantasy elements but the writer managed to combine them into a story that is interesting. The idea behind Merglan's character was well-thought but not well-executed in my opinion. Ivan is more like an almighty genius protagonist and Theodor is more of a sidekick but also a protagonist in his own story. I liked the character development of Ivan, to be honest. The beginning of the story is interesting but for about 2 or 3 chapters it is stretched (The whole army training part) until you get some action. After that, there is almost always continuous action. The ending is okay but you have to remember that this is the first of the series. Without further ado, it is not perfect and there are some minor problems. However, it is still enjoyable and I would like to continue reading the series.

4/5 Stars (%80/100) 2nd reading: I didn't realize it's been 7 years since I first read this. This time, I especially enjoyed the unfinished poem and its connection to the Silmarillion. Apparently, Tolkien was also inspired by Arthurian legends in creating Middle-earth. Overall, this is a really good book and Tolkien fans must read it. I've decided to change my score from %78 to %80. I have always been a fan of legends and myths about great heroes. King Arthur is one of those heroes. This book is underrated in my opinion. Many people know Tolkien only because of Middle-earth, that's fair but there is so much more to Tolkien than merely Middle-earth. This is one of those not well-known books of Tolkien just like Beowulf, Sir Gawain, and other folk tales. The Fall of Arthur is an epic poem that mainly talks about the conflict between King Arthur and Mordred the traitor. (Mordred is one of my all-time favourite characters especially in the anime Fate Apocrypha) The book might be difficult for some because of the whole Old English language and style. Yet, it is a wonderful piece that needs recognition.

2/5 Stars (%36/100) Deals with a young black girl named Meridian, her personal life (including pregnancy) and her involvement with the Civil Rights Movement. The book is very autobiographical if you are especially knowledgeable about Alice Walker and also her daughter Rebecca Walker's life. It was okay in my opinion, but not even close to The Color Purple. Give it a chance.

4/5 Stars (%80/100) Jay Gatsby is one of the best protagonists in my opinion. He is a very charming, rich, and smart man. Jazz Age (1920s) is depicted perfectly in the book. It is a very simple rags to riches story with romance elements. I really hate Daisy's character but the way Gatsby talks about her is brilliant. The imagery, language, and motives are all brilliant. The Great Gatsby has a special place in my heart so I'm pretty sure I'm very biased in this review. However, everyone should read this book as it is considered to be one of the "classics."
