The idea of reward/penalty mechanisms actually impair the performance is a very groundbreaking. It has the potential to change our society, how you deal with your employees, kids and even yourself. And it is a step in the right direction moving away from cold, mechanical, autocratic corporate culture of industrial age.
However, although I full agree with Pink on the problem, the solution needs more consideration.
How can I motivate my employees without providing any carrot/stick? Pink's answer to this (engaging employees and awakening the natural curiosity within them) is not very practical and satisfying. In an organization of more than thousand people, eliminating the classical penalty/reward schemes may cause chaos.
Finally, the book is very structured. Especially the summary and glossary at the end is useful.
