It is a really great book that has a lot of great messages. Unfortunately, I only read 15% of it before the war happened in the Middle East and we started lacking electricity. So I ended up finishing it in two nights because of the power outages. This fast reading might have kept me from fully experiencing the book, because I prefer to read slowly and really invest in it. But still loved it

Les Rivières pourpres by Jean-Christophe Grangé The novel begins with a disturbing murder in a quiet university town in the French Alps. At the same time, in another nearby place, a different investigation is unfolding, one that at first seems unrelated. As the story progresses, the two cases slowly begin to connect in unexpected ways. Without revealing too much, the investigation takes the reader into a world of hidden secrets, elite institutions, and unsettling discoveries. It’s not just about finding a killer. It’s about uncovering something much darker beneath the surface. What makes Les Rivières pourpres stand out is its atmosphere. The setting, cold mountains, isolated spaces, and closed communities, creates a feeling of tension from the very first pages. The environment almost feels like a character itself: harsh, silent, and unforgiving. Grangé’s writing style is direct and fast-paced. The chapters are short, the scenes are vivid, and there’s very little unnecessary description. This makes the story feel urgent and cinematic. You don’t just read it, you move through it quickly, almost breathlessly. There’s also a psychological layer. The investigators aren’t superheroes; they’re intelligent but human, with instincts, doubts, and limits. That realism makes the tension feel more believable. Les Rivières pourpres became very successful because it goes beyond a simple “who did it?” mystery. The plot is carefully constructed, with twists that feel earned rather than random. The suspense builds steadily, and the stakes feel high.

Best book on Parkinson's Disease I have read so far - mainly because it is written by a journalist instead of doctors! If you are new to Parkinson’s, this is not going to give you the details on what the disease is or does that you’re looking for. But if you are familiar with Parkinson’s, this is a fascinating history and look-forward of the disease. Award-winning journalist Palfreman’s fast-paced, captivating, and crisp narrative of patients, doctors, and researchers is part scientific investigation, part medical detective story, and part memoir, and it opens wide a window into the world of Parkinson’s. He introduces readers to James Parkinson, who in 1817 offered the first clinical description of the disease; Jean-Martin Charcot, who accurately described the signs and symptoms of what appeared to be a movement disorder; Constantin Tretiakoff, who demonstrated that the disease was caused by damage to the substantia nigra portion of the brain; and Frederick Lewy, who discovered the pathological hallmarks of Parkinson’s. Palfreman, who was diagnosed with the disease during his research, investigates drug therapies, such as the routine L-dopa therapy initiated in the 1960s and still used frequently today, and experimental drugs such as NPT088, which has yet to be approved by the FDA. There are more than seven million Parkinson’s sufferers worldwide and Palfreman shares some of their stories, including that of dancer Pam Quinn, who has learned to “trick” her symptoms and teaches her methods to other Parkinson’s patients. He reminds readers that a diagnosis of Parkinson’s is a life sentence, but Palfreman remains optimistic about what new discoveries may be able to offer Parkinson’s patients. This book is AMAZING for patients with Parkinson's and for their close ones.

This book is a very short, strong horror story set in the 1920s. The main idea is simple: the Ku Klux Klan are not just mean people; they are actual monsters (like creatures from a scary movie). They grow stronger because of hate and racism. The heroes are a small group of Black women. They fight these monsters using magic weapons and a powerful, spiritual dance from their culture. It's a fast read one. It uses the monster fight to talk about how people have to fight hate and racism in the real world. The topic is nice but the writing style is not my type. So did not enjoy it a lot, sorry.

A quick read, fast finish book by Freida McFadden. She shows the power of a short story. The story is about Cassie, a normal mom, gets a gift she didn't ask for from Becca, her son's ex-girlfriend. This small problem quickly grows into a big mind game. The author is great at making you feel Cassie's stress and wonder if Becca is really doing these things, or if Cassie is just imagining it. The book moves very fast, and you will rush through the pages. At the time when you think you know who is good and who is bad, the whole story changes completely. It is amazing, high impact writing. I really recommend this if you want suspense that ends with a big twist!

When I learned that Tolkien wrote Roverandom for his young son, I was really impressed. The boy lost his toy dog, so Tolkien wrote this story. Amazing! The book is full of simple and happy magic. The story is about a little dog that is a little bit bad. A wizard makes the dog very small. The dog then goes on big trips! He travels to the Moon and then under the ocean. This book is fast and very easy to read. It is much lighter than his big books. If you like simple stories with wizards and magic, this book is perfect. And of course, kids will love it.
