Reading witcher in english is fascinating. Even though its translated directly from Polish, English sometimes flattens the raw, gritty Slavic wit, but the dark atmosphere still punches through. I love how this book tears down pretty fairy tales. It shows a magical world ruined by ugly human realities such as injustice, racism, and violence. It proves that no matter the universe, human nature always brings the same disgusting problems. Since I’ve played all the games, I didn't have to build this world from scratch. I felt like I was returning home, totally immersed from page one. Plus, every character is so distinct you instantly adopt them. Dandelion, especially, is brilliant, his dramatic bard energy perfectly balances the grim reality. The core of the book for me is Geralt. He acts like a heartless mutant who only kills for coin, forcing himself to believe he has no feelings because society expects him to be cold. But underneath, he is incredibly soft hearted. I related to him deeply. People often call me emotionless too. But I know how much I actually care. When it matters, sometimes I act way more thoughtful and genuinely considerate than the people who constantly brag about how sensitive they are. Like Geralt, being guarded doesn't mean you don't feel. Some dislike that this is just a collection of scattered short stories, but I think it’s the perfect, low pressure gateway into the universe. It’s a fun, easy read that makes you feel both the darkness of the world and the hidden warmth of its hero.
I like not knowing about some things. Yes. I like it. Because it feels comfortable to me. I take refuge in the comfort of saying "I don't know." I read the Elephant Man story for the first time in this book. But I didn't know it was a famous story and based on a true event. Absolutely. So I'm glad I read it without knowing anything about it. Because it didn't affect my feelings.
I did a simple reading and I have simple feelings. Not exaggerated. The Elephant Man was a human and never a creature. Monster or creature. He was human. What about the other people? They are prejudiced. As always. I think the real creatures are the other people. Because they wounded a wounded person again and again. That evil requires having an evil heart. Right? Clear... Apart from that. The book is very easy to read because when I didn't know a word, I looked up its meaning on the next page. It was very comfortable. I didn't use a dictionary. Besides, this was a first-level reading. Beginner level. I will watch the movie. Of course, I will watch it in English. Because I made a promise to Professor Akif. Just like he promised Fuat Sezgin.

Gece Yarısı Kütüphanesinden sonra Matt Haig’in en sevdiğim ikinci romanı oldu Hayat İmkânsız.
Haig yine benzer bir temayı işliyor: hayata küsen birinin, kendi iç karanlığından yavaş yavaş geri dönüşü. Ama bu kez hikâye daha doğanın içinde, daha dingin, daha “yeryüzüne ait” bir yerden akıyor.
Romanın merkezindeki karakter, Ibiza’da bir kulübede yaşayan, dünyadan elini eteğini çekmiş bir adam. Onun yalnızlığı, doğayla kurduğu ilişki, insanlardan uzaklaşma sebebi… tümü bana Human Design felsefesini ortaya atan Ra Uru Hu’nun hikâyesini hatırlattı. Sanki Haig, modern dünyanın gürültüsünden kaçıp kendi iç sesini duymaya çalışan herkese bir selam gönderiyor.
Kitapta beni en çok etkileyen şeylerden biri, doğayı koruma ve ona sahip çıkma temasının çok ince ama güçlü bir şekilde işlenmiş olması. Haig, doğayı bir fon olarak değil, karakterlerden biri gibi anlatıyor. Ağaçların, rüzgârın, denizin, sessizliğin bile bir dili var. Kahramanın iyileşme süreci de aslında doğanın ritmine kendini bırakmasıyla başlıyor.
Roman ilerledikçe, karakterin geçmişiyle yüzleşmesi, kendi kırılganlığını kabul etmesi ve yeniden hayata tutunması çok insani bir yerden anlatılıyor. Haig’in en sevdiğim yanı burada:

İlk önce aynı yazarın Vejeteryan kitabını okudum, ve onu okuduktan hemen sonra bu kitabı uçakta buldum. Onu bulmamın kader olduğunu düşündüğüm kitabı bulur bulmaz okumaya başladım.
Uzun zamandır bir kitabı okurken bu kadar zorlanmamıştım. Han Kang'ın kalemi öyle çarpıcı ve etkileyici ki rahatsız olmamak ve kitabı soluklanmak için bir süreliğine kenara koymamak elde değil. Hikayenin gerçek oluşu da cabası. Ancak Han Kang'a teşekkür etmeliyim ki bu kitap sayesinde daha öncesinde haberdar olmadığım bir insanlık suçunu öğrenerek bilinçlenmiş oldum. Gücün ne kadar zehirleyici olduğu ve insanoğlunun bu gücü elinde tutmak için gidemeyeceği yol, barbarlık ve acımasızlık olmayacağını tekrar hatırlamış oldum.

A Critical Review of Humankind
Rutger Bregman’s book Humankind is one of the books that questions negative ideas about human nature and makes readers think. For many years, many people believed that humans are naturally selfish, bad, and only care about themselves. However, Bregman does not agree with this idea. According to him, human nature is not as dark as people think. Instead, people are more willing to help each other, understand others’ feelings, and do good things. In the book, the author supports these ideas with many examples from wars, psychology experiments, history, and biology. One of the best parts of the book is that it gives hope about humanity. Still, when I finished the book, I did not only feel admiration. On one side, I was happy to read it because it made me think differently. On the other side, some of the author’s ideas felt too optimistic to me. Because of this, the book was both interesting and questionable for me.
One of the strongest parts of the book is that it makes people question ideas about human nature that many accept without thinking. Today, we often see violence, murder, wars, and fights on television, social media, and in the news. After some time, people start to believe that the world is full of bad people. At this point, Bregman asks an important question: If humans were really bad by nature, how could societies survive for so many years? A big part of human history was shaped by helping each other, working together, and surviving together. From this side, the writer’s ideas are important and meaningful.
His ideas against the belief that humans are naturally wild are especially interesting. Today, when someone behaves badly, people sometimes say, “Did you grow up in a cave?” However, Bregman says that hunter-gatherer societies were not as violent as many
Osamu Dazai’nin İnsanlığımı Yitirirken (orijinal adıyla No Longer Human) kitabı, aslında “bir insanın dünyaya uyum sağlayamayıp kendi içine çöküşünü” çok sakin ama bir o kadar da sarsıcı bir şekilde anlatıyor. Senin Yozo’ya dair konuşmanda hissettiğin o “keşke yalnızlığı seçmeseydi ama aslında seçmedi de…” duygusu, bu kitabın tam kalbi gibi.
İnsanlığımı Yitirirken’nin ana karakteri Ōba Yōzō, dışarıdan bakınca “insan gibi davranmayı öğrenmiş” biri. Ama içeride sürekli bir yabancılık hissi var. İnsanların duygularını anlamıyor değil; daha çok onlara ait hissedemiyor. Bu yüzden hayatı boyunca bir maske takıyor: güldüğü yerde gerçekten gülmüyor, uyum sağladığı yerde aslında çözülüyor.
