Rick Riordan 5 Haziran 1964'te Texas'ta doğdu. Çocuğunun disleksisi olduğundan dolayı okumasını kolaylaştırmak için ona kendini tanrılara benzetmesini önerdi. Daha sonra bunla ilgili çeşitli hikâyeler yazdı ve en sonunda Percy Jackson ve Olimposluların ilk kitabı olan Şimşek Hırsızı ortaya çıktı. Şimşek Hırsızından sonra Canavarlar Denizi, Titan'ın Laneti, Labirent Savaşı ve Son Olimposlu'yu yazdı. Percy Jackson ve Olimposlulardan sonra Mısır mitolojisi ile ilgili Kane Günceleri adlı bir seriye başladı ve serinin ilk kitabı Red Pyramid ( Kırmızı Piramit ) 4 Mayıs 2010'da basıldı ve adını vermek istemediğim bir yayın tarafından Türkçe'ye çevrilip basıldı. En son The Heroes of Olympus Serisinin ilk kitabı The Lost Hero adlı kitabı basılan Rick Riordan her yıl bir kitap çıkarmayı planladığını açıkladı. 1.
