Jim Hawkins was a young boy who lived with his parents at the Admiral Benbow inn. One day, a mysterious seaman named Billy Bones arrived. He had a scar on his face, drank heavily, and frightened the customers with his stories. He always asked about a man with one leg. Later, he received the “Black Spot” from a blind beggar named Pew, which meant death. Soon after, Billy Bones died of too much rum, and Jim discovered papers in his chest showing the location of Captain Flint’s treasure.
Squire Trelawney and Dr. Livesey decided to find the treasure, and together with Jim and three loyal servants, they prepared a ship named the Hispaniola. Captain Smollett commanded the ship, but many of the crew were secretly pirates led by the one-legged cook, Long John Silver.
When they reached the island, Silver and his men mutinied. Loyal men like Redruth, Joyce, and Hunter were killed, but Jim, the doctor, the squire, and Gray continued to resist. On the island, Jim met Ben Gunn, a castaway who had already found and hidden Flint’s treasure.
In the end, the pirates discovered that the treasure was gone, and Silver’s plans collapsed. The survivors carried the treasure safely back to the Hispaniola. Long John Silver managed to escape before they reached home, but the others returned with wealth.
Although many lives were lost, Jim and his friends succeeded. The adventure taught them that loyalty and courage were more valuable than gold.
