This has been on my "to-read" list for over 3 years now. I finally decided to stop being lazy and finish the book. It was really amazing and much better than I expected. The title is clear: the book showcases and explains pretty much every important place, event, journey etc. The maps are the most detailed ones I have seen so far. There are a lot of maps of Middle-Earth on the Internet but I have never seen so detailed and beautifully drawn maps before.
The book is split into many chapters including the first three ages of Arda, The Hobbit and LoTR. From the map of Nirnaeth Arnoediad (The Fifth Great Battle against Melkor) to Bilbo and Frodo's journey in the 3rd Age, there are many more maps and pictures. I especially enjoyed the maps which show the journey of certain characters like Turin, Nienor, Beren and Luthien and so forth. The maps about the First Age (and before that) are also super interesting. I would recommend the book to every Tolkien geek. I will probably get a physical copy in the future and look at the maps from time to time.
