İt is about middle English. Actually, it emphasizes manners of knights towards to their kings . And , here there is a monster who is green knight because his colour , clothes and even his horse are green. This symbolizes nature. İn this time, nature is both natural and wilderness. So , he also has evilness. Sır Gawain uses a girdle to product him. That's why, this is a trick and it is against the chivalric manners. Green knight actually tested their manner here. İt is also a type of shame for knights. Moreover, the game which they played is important.

4/5 Stars (%74/100) I actually found this book online for an extremely cheap price. (2 or 3$) It is 1978 edition and I love old books. At that time, I pretty much did not have any idea about the book as I was more interested in the books related to Middle-earth. However, I knew the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. It was nice to read the same story from Tolkien's pen. Pearl and Sir Orfeo were also really interesting. (Perhaps not as much the Green Knight.) This is a great book for Tolkien geeks especially. However, you probably would enjoy it even if you are not a huge Tolkien fan. Great book!
